*Yes, you can add Robux to a Roblox trade. Roblox takes a 30% fee and caps what lands at 50% of the value of the items you offer.*

Yes, you can add Robux to your side of a Roblox trade, and two rules decide how much. Roblox takes a 30% fee out of any Robux in a trade once the offer is accepted, and the Robux that reaches the other player cannot be more than 50% of the value of the items you are offering. Roblox's own example is a 300 Robux item, which allows up to 150 Robux. Robux is Roblox's currency, written R$, and the items in question are Limiteds: collectible avatar items that went off sale, so the only way to get one now is from another player.

**Quick answer:** You can add Robux to a Roblox trade, but Roblox keeps 30% of it, and what lands on the other side is capped at half the value of the items on your side. Both players need an active Roblox Plus subscription, and only Roblox-created Limiteds can be traded at all.

| Rule | What Roblox does |
| --- | --- |
| Fee on added Robux | 30%, taken once the offer is accepted |
| Cap on added Robux | No more than 50% of your offered items' value, measured after the fee |
| Roblox's own example | A 300 R$ item allows up to 150 R$ |
| What you can trade | Roblox-created Limiteds, plus Robux inside the cap |
| Subscription | Both players need Roblox Plus |
| Reversals | None. A completed trade cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed |

## Can you add Robux to a Roblox trade? Yes, inside a 30% fee and a 50% cap

Roblox's trading support page states both rules plainly. A 30% fee is taken from any Robux in a trade once the offer is accepted, and the Robux you add cannot be more than 50% of the value of the items you are offering, after the fee.

The fee part is the easy half. Type 100 R$ into the Robux box and 30 R$ goes to Roblox, so 70 R$ shows up in the other player's balance. That fee lands on you, the sender. The person accepting your offer never sees the missing 30.

The cap is the part that catches people out, because it is measured against your items. You can have a million Robux sitting in your account and still be blocked from adding 200 R$ to a trade, if the items on your side are cheap enough.

## How much Robux can you add to a Roblox trade? Half your items' RAP

The public number that comes closest to "the value of the items you are offering" is RAP, short for Recent Average Price. RAP is a smoothed average of an item's entire sale history, and it moves one tenth of the way toward each new sale price. The community-maintained [Roblox Wiki](https://roblox.fandom.com/wiki/Trade_system) documents the trade cap against the RAP of the included items, which matches Roblox's 300-to-150 example exactly.

Here is what that ceiling looks like on five classic Limiteds, using live RAP from the RBX Invest catalog on September 24, 2026. Classic Limiteds are the ones Roblox itself made, and they are the only items the trade system accepts.

| Item you offer | RAP | Most Robux that can land | Roughly what you type in |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1365767?size=150) [Valkyrie Helm](/item/1365767) | 237,459 R$ | 118,729 R$ | ~169,600 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/53623350?size=150) [Telamon's Foe Hammer](/item/53623350) | 66,006 R$ | 33,003 R$ | ~47,100 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1081239?size=150) [Bucket](/item/1081239) | 9,226 R$ | 4,613 R$ | ~6,590 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/19027209?size=150) [Perfectly Legitimate Business Hat](/item/19027209) | 3,489 R$ | 1,744 R$ | ~2,490 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/20573078?size=150) [Shaggy](/item/20573078) | 1,626 R$ | 813 R$ | ~1,160 R$ |

The last column is an estimate. Roblox states the cap "after the fee", so the ceiling applies to the amount that survives the 30% cut, which means the figure you type in can be higher than the cap itself. The trade window enforces the exact number, so treat the box as the final word and check it before you send. If you are stacking several items on your side, their values add up and the ceiling rises with them.

## How does the 30% trade fee compare to selling a Limited? Both cost 30%

Selling a classic Limited through the resale market leaves you with 70% of the sale price, and moving Robux through a trade leaves the other player with 70% of what you typed. Our [full breakdown of Roblox marketplace fees](/articles/roblox-marketplace-fees-explained) walks through every split.

One difference matters more than the percentage. Roblox's [marketplace documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions) warns that Robux from trading, or from selling items you did not create, counts as unearned. Unearned Robux cannot go through the Developer Exchange program, so it stays inside Roblox as spending money. If your goal is cashing out, read our guide to [Robux and DevEx rates](/articles/robux-to-usd-devex-rates) before you build a plan around trade profits.

## What can't you put in a Roblox trade? UGC Limiteds and Robux on their own

Roblox's marketplace documentation is direct about this: at this time, only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable. UGC Limiteds, the community-made Limiteds that launched in April 2023, change hands exclusively through Marketplace resales. You can buy them and resell them, and you can never put one in a trade window. Our [classic versus UGC Limiteds comparison](/articles/classic-limiteds-vs-ugc-limiteds) covers what else separates the two.

Robux on its own is also out. The cap is a percentage of the items on your side, so offering zero items gives you a ceiling of zero Robux. Every Robux top-up has to ride along with at least one Limited. Gear and faces that carry the Limited tag work the same way, and you can check any item's Tradable field on its Roblox details page before you plan around it.

## When is adding Robux to a trade actually worth it? On high-copy items

![Telamon's Foe Hammer](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/53623350?size=420)

Robux tops up gaps. If the item you want sits a little above what your item is worth, a Robux add closes the distance without dragging a third item into the deal. That is the honest use case, and it works well on high-copy items where RAP tracks real prices closely.

It works badly on thin markets, meaning items with few copies and few sales. [Telamon's Foe Hammer](/item/53623350) is a clean example. Only 258 copies exist, its RAP sits at 66,006 R$, and the cheapest copy listed for resale is 149,999 R$. Trader consensus, meaning the price collectors actually pay each other, sits far above RAP for it too. Size a Robux top-up off that 66,006 figure and the cap holds your add to 33,003 R$, while the cheapest copy anyone can actually buy costs more than twice the RAP.

The fewer copies an item has, the less you should trust RAP as a fairness check. Sort by copy count on the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) or browse [classic hats](/collections/classic-hats) to see how wide that spread gets. For the full method, our guide on [how to evaluate a Roblox trade](/articles/how-to-evaluate-a-roblox-trade) goes through it step by step. None of this is financial advice, and Limited prices can fall as easily as they rise.

There is also a cheaper route worth considering. If the item you want has resellers listed, buying it outright costs you the asking price with no 30% haircut on the Robux side. Check the [Deals feed](/deals) for copies listed below RAP before you build a trade around a Robux top-up.

## What do you need before you can trade on Roblox? Roblox Plus on both sides

Both players need an active Roblox Plus subscription. Both also need trading and inventory visibility switched on under Account Settings, Privacy and content restrictions, Trading and inventory. Trading is currently unavailable for accounts in South Korea. If your trade button is missing, our guide on [why you can't trade on Roblox](/articles/why-cant-i-trade-on-roblox) runs through the checks in order.

Classic Limiteds carry a 2-day holding period after a trade. A holding period is the window after an item reaches you when you cannot move it on, so a freshly traded item sits still for two days. Items bought from the resale market carry a 7-day hold. Plan around those dates if you are moving items through several deals.

## How do you stay safe with Robux in a trade? Treat every offer as final

Completed trades are final. Roblox states that a finished trade cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed, and that it will not return your items or Robux for any reason. Once you press accept, the Robux is gone.

Three habits cover most of the risk. Only ever trade through the official trade window, never through a promise to send first. Never trade for real money or for anything that lives outside Roblox, because Roblox cannot recover any of it. And turn the trade quality filter up in your settings while you are learning, which hides lowball offers before they reach you. Our [Roblox trading scams guide](/articles/roblox-trading-scams-how-to-avoid-them) covers the specific scripts scammers use around Robux adds.

The most common trap with Robux is a big number used as bait. An offer that stacks Robux on top of a weak item can look generous while the item carries the real value of the deal. Price the items first, then look at the Robux. For a refresher on where those prices come from, see [what RAP means on Roblox](/articles/what-is-rap-roblox).

Fees, caps, trade requirements and holding periods in this article come from Roblox's marketplace documentation and Roblox's trading support page as of September 2026, the RAP basis for the trade cap corroborated by the community-maintained Roblox Wiki, and all RAP, copy count and resale prices from the RBX Invest catalog as of September 24, 2026.

## FAQ

### Can you add Robux to a Roblox trade?

Yes. Roblox lets you add Robux to your side of a trade alongside your items. A 30% fee is taken from that Robux once the offer is accepted, and the amount that lands is capped at 50% of the value of the items you are offering.

### How much Robux can you add to a Roblox trade?

Up to 50% of the value of the items on your side, measured after the 30% fee. Roblox's own example is a 300 Robux item allowing up to 150 Robux. On a Valkyrie Helm at a 237,459 R$ RAP, that ceiling works out at 118,729 R$ landing on the other side.

### Does Roblox take a fee on Robux added to a trade?

Yes, 30%. Type 100 R$ into the Robux box and the other player receives 70 R$, with the remaining 30 R$ going to Roblox. The fee applies once the offer is accepted.

### Can you trade Robux on its own with no items?

No. The Robux cap is calculated as a share of the items you are offering, so a trade with no items on your side allows no Robux either. Every Robux top-up has to accompany at least one tradeable Limited.

### Can you trade UGC Limiteds on Roblox?

No. Roblox's marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable. UGC Limiteds move between players through Marketplace resales, which means buying and selling.

### Do you need Roblox Plus to trade on Roblox?

Yes, and both players need it. An active Roblox Plus subscription is required on each side, along with trading and inventory visibility turned on in account settings. Trading is currently unavailable for accounts based in South Korea.

### Can Robux from a trade be cashed out through DevEx?

No. Roblox's marketplace documentation states that Robux gained from trading, or from selling items you did not create, is not considered earned Robux and is ineligible for the Developer Exchange program. It stays usable inside Roblox.

### Can a completed Roblox trade be reversed?

No. Roblox states that a completed trade cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed, and that it will not return items or Robux for any reason. Check both sides of every offer carefully before accepting.
