*The Bombastic series is Roblox's lava texture line from 2007. See all 12 Bombastic Limiteds with live RAP, copies, and lowest asks.*

The Bombastic series is Roblox's lava-textured item family: a glowing orange-on-black material that Roblox has stamped onto masks, antlers, shades, katanas and crowns since December 2007. Twelve Bombastic items are Limiteds, which means Roblox stopped selling them and the only way to get one now is to buy it from another player. The rest are ordinary catalog items with no resale market at all. The family's gem, meaning its scarce high-value piece, is Bombastic Clockwork Shades: 146 copies, handed out only through a 2015 gift box for Roblox's top-grossing developers.

**Quick answer:** Bombastic is Roblox's lava texture, first used on a gift box released December 10, 2007. Twelve Bombastic items are tradeable Limiteds, led by Bombastic Clockwork Shades at 146 copies and a RAP of 275,295 Robux in RBX Invest catalog data as of September 2026.

## What is the Bombastic series on Roblox? A lava texture that goes back to 2007

Bombastic is a retexture family, not a single item. A retexture is an item that reuses an existing 3D shape and paints a new surface on it, so a Bombastic hat is usually a familiar hat wearing molten orange and red. Roblox has reused the same material for nearly two decades, which is why the family spans a ninja mask, an egg, a boa, a katana and a pair of shutter shades that have nothing else in common.

The texture debuted on December 10, 2007 with the Bombastic Gift of Awesome, part of that year's winter gift event. According to the [Roblox Wiki](https://roblox.fandom.com/wiki/Bombastic_%28series%29), which documents the family, the box went to players who had the word "Awesome" in their profile blurb, and it opened into the Ninja Mask of Awesome later that month. The mask itself became a Limited on November 6, 2009, and as a 2007 release it is the oldest Bombastic item that still trades today.

![Ninja Mask of Awesome](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1286496?size=420)

Two more early pieces followed. The Bombastic Egg of Annihilation was a prize in the 2008 egg hunt, Roblox's first, and it went Limited on October 6, 2009. The Awesome Ring of Olympia, a Bombastic ring that floats over your head, sold for 2,000 Robux during a 2008 contest, and the Roblox Wiki records only 64 copies sold. Roblox never converted it to a Limited, though, so those copies sit frozen in old inventories and cannot be bought or sold at any price. If you want the wider story of that first hunt, we covered it in [Eggstravaganza 2008](/articles/eggstravaganza-2008-first-roblox-egg-hunt).

## Which Bombastic items are Limiteds? Twelve, and only those twelve trade

Below is every Bombastic Limited with live figures from the RBX Invest catalog. RAP means Recent Average Price, a smoothed average of an item's sale history that lags the real market on items that rarely sell. Copies is the number in circulation. Lowest ask is the cheapest copy a reseller currently has listed, which is the price you would actually pay today. Rows are ordered by consensus street value, meaning what experienced traders treat a copy as being worth, rather than by RAP alone.

Four of those items only became tradeable in the 2022 and 2023 conversion wave, when Roblox turned a batch of old timed and gift items into Limiteds: the Swordpack in May 2022, the Antlers in July 2022, the Clockwork Shades in August 2022, and the Bathysphere in January 2023. Roblox's own catalog records still carry those dates as each item's last update, which is a useful tell when you're trying to date a conversion yourself.

Two members were sold as fixed-stock items instead. The Bombastic Katana went up in June 2015 at 500 Robux with 1,250 copies in stock, and the Neon Bombastic Animal Hoodie was sold at 100 Robux during a 2016 livestream event with 25,000 in stock, selling out the next day. Fixed stock is why the hoodie is the family's floor: 25,017 copies exist, so nothing about it is scarce.

## Which Bombastic item is worth the most? Bombastic Clockwork Shades, by a long way

![Bombastic Clockwork Shades](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/286524574?size=420)

The shades were never sold. Roblox's own item description says the top 100 developers were randomly awarded one of four Luxurious Creator gifts, wrapped in Sparkle Time, Adurite, Wanwood or Bombastic, for being among the top 100 grossing DevEx developers of 2015. DevEx is Roblox's program for converting earned Robux into real money, so this was a reward aimed squarely at the platform's biggest earners. The Bombastic box opened on December 21, 2015 into these glasses. Only 146 copies exist, and no event will ever mint another.

That supply produces the biggest gap in the family between RAP and reality. RAP sits at 275,295 Robux, but as of September 2026 the cheapest copy listed on RBX Invest is 1,499,967 Robux, and trader consensus puts the real value far above the RAP figure too. Both facts point the same way: on a 146-copy item that sells maybe a handful of times a year, RAP is an old number wearing a fresh coat of paint. If you screen this family by RAP alone you will badly underestimate what it takes to buy one. Our [Clockwork series history](/articles/clockwork-series-history-roblox) covers the rest of that line, and the [Clockwork collection](/collections/clockwork) ranks every Clockwork item live.

The gap narrows fast further down. Bombastic Antlers, the family's number two, has 1,045 copies and a lowest ask of 55,000 Robux against a RAP of 59,828, so the market price and the smoothed average are close enough that either one gives you a usable read. That is the general rule with Limiteds: the thinner the supply, the less RAP tells you.

## What drives the Bombastic premium? Gifts, timers and sale events

Nothing in this family was ever sold in unlimited quantity, and the reasons split three ways.

**Gift-only items.** The Clockwork Shades, the Shutter Shades and the Ninja Mask of Awesome were never purchasable. You either received the gift box in the right event window or you buy one from a player now. The Shutter Shades came from the Restricted Gift of Short Supply in December 2014, which randomly awarded one of four recolors of the same glasses: Viridian, Bluesteel, Bombastic or Black Iron. Opening that box was a one-in-four roll across four texture families, two of which we cover in the [Bluesteel](/articles/bluesteel-series-history-roblox) and [Black Iron](/articles/black-iron-series-history-roblox) histories.

**Timed sale items.** The shortest window of all belonged to Brilliant Bombastique, a Bombastic version of the [Beautiful Hair for Beautiful People](/articles/beautiful-hair-for-beautiful-people-roblox) mesh that sold for 100 Robux on a fifteen-minute timer during Black Friday 2013, came back in two later sales, and went Limited in February 2016. The Antlers went on sale for 7,500 Robux for twelve hours in 2014. The Bathysphere had a one-hour window at 50 Robux in 2015. The Scary Hood ran a few hours at 500 Robux during a 2016 sale event, and the Swordpack ran three days at 350 Robux in 2016. Short windows are why several of these sit in the low thousands of copies instead of the tens of thousands. The Roblox Wiki records the Antlers being brought back at the same 7,500 Robux price in several later holiday sales, which is why their supply is larger than a twelve-hour window suggests.

**Age.** The Ninja Mask of Awesome and the Egg of Annihilation are 2007 and 2008 items. Being genuinely old carries weight with collectors independent of copy count, which is why a 2,050-copy mask holds a higher price than a 3,263-copy hood from 2016.

## Which Bombastic items never went Limited?

Most of them, actually. Roblox has put the lava texture on a long list of ordinary catalog items that were never made collectible: a fedora and a set of square shades in 2017, a visor, a bandana, bunny ears, a beard, a second hair piece, a top hat, giant wings, and a bling necklace from a 2020 in-experience event. None of those trade. If an item was never made Limited, it has no resale market, no RAP and no serial numbers, so owning one is a style choice rather than a position.

The odd one out is the Bombastic Crown, published December 13, 2017 at 5,000 Robux. Roblox's catalog still lists it for sale at that price today and it has never been made Limited, so a listing you see is a fresh copy from Roblox rather than a resale from a player. Do not confuse it with the dozens of UGC Limiteds that borrow "Bombastic" in their names. Those are community-made items from 2023 onward, they are not part of Roblox's original texture line, and they cannot be traded at all, since the player-to-player trade system covers Classic Limiteds only.

## Should you buy a Bombastic Limited?

It depends which end of the family you want. The bottom half is genuinely cheap: the Bathysphere, the Animal Hoodie, the Shutter Shades and the Boa all sit near or under a few thousand Robux, and they are an easy way to own a piece of a texture line that predates most of the platform. The top is a different market. The Clockwork Shades require seven figures and almost never come up, and the Antlers and Katana sit in the tens of thousands with thin trading either way.

The practical risk is liquidity, meaning how quickly you can turn an item back into Robux. A 146-copy item can take months to sell at a price you like, and a single sale moves its RAP visibly. Reselling any Limited also requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account, so factor that into a flip you intend to make quickly. Screen the whole family on the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard), browse related pieces in the [fire and lava collection](/collections/fire-items) or among the [rarest Limiteds](/collections/rarest-limiteds), and watch the [Deals feed](/deals) if you would rather wait for a copy listed under its usual floor than pay the current ask. This is not financial advice, and thin markets like this one can move against you fast.

Release dates and event details in this article come from the Roblox Wiki and from Roblox's own catalog records, item status and pricing were checked against Roblox's catalog on September 5, 2026, and every RAP, copy count and lowest ask is RBX Invest catalog data as of September 5, 2026.

## FAQ

### What is the Bombastic series in Roblox?

The Bombastic series is Roblox's lava-textured item family, a glowing orange-and-black material applied to hats, faces, gear and accessories. It first appeared on a gift box released December 10, 2007, and Roblox has kept reusing it on new catalog items in the years since.

### How many Bombastic Limiteds are there?

Twelve Bombastic items are tradeable Limiteds. Every other Bombastic item Roblox published, including the Bombastic Crown, the Bombastic Fedora and the Bombastic Square Shades, is a plain catalog item with no resale market.

### What is the rarest Bombastic item?

Bombastic Clockwork Shades, with 146 copies. It was never sold: Roblox gave it to the top 100 grossing DevEx developers of 2015 inside a Luxurious Creator gift box, which opened on December 21, 2015.

### How much is Bombastic Clockwork Shades worth?

Its RAP is 275,295 Robux in RBX Invest catalog data as of September 2026, but the cheapest copy actually listed is 1,499,967 Robux. On a 146-copy item that trades a handful of times a year, the lowest ask is the more honest number.

### Is Bombastic Antlers still buyable from Roblox?

No. It sold for 7,500 Robux in February 2014 and returned at that price in several later holiday sales, but it became a Limited on July 26, 2022. The only source now is another player, with 1,045 copies in circulation.

### Why did several Bombastic items become Limiteds in 2022?

Roblox converted a batch of older timed and gift items into Limiteds in 2022 and 2023. In this family that covers the Swordpack in May 2022, the Antlers in July 2022, the Clockwork Shades in August 2022 and the Bathysphere in January 2023.

### Are the UGC items with "Bombastic" in their names part of the series?

No. Those are community-made UGC Limiteds published from 2023 onward that borrow the name and look. Roblox's original texture line is separate, and unlike the Classic Limiteds above, UGC Limiteds cannot be traded player to player at all.

### Which Bombastic Limited is the cheapest to buy?

Bombastic Bathysphere, with the cheapest copy listed at 1,111 Robux, just under the Neon Bombastic Animal Hoodie at 1,200. Both were sold in large quantities, 3,268 and 25,017 copies respectively, so neither is scarce.
