*Yes, you can buy a Roblox Limited inside a game: the Avatar Inspect Menu sells original and resale copies, and the experience owner keeps 10%.*

Yes. You can buy a Roblox Limited while you're standing inside a game, without ever opening the Roblox website. A Limited is an avatar item sold in a fixed number of copies, so once the original stock runs out, the only copies left belong to other players. Roblox opened those resale copies up to in-game buying in November 2023, and today you can reach them two ways: the Avatar Inspect Menu you open from the player list, and purchase prompts a game shows you. The price is the same price the item carries on its Marketplace page. The split of that price changes in one place, because the owner of the experience you're standing in collects the 10% affiliate share.

**Quick answer:** You can buy Limiteds inside a Roblox experience through the Avatar Inspect Menu or a purchase prompt. If the creator still has original copies, you get one of those first, and after sell-out the inspect menu offers you the cheapest resale copy. A community-made Limited resale pays 50% to the reseller, 10% to the creator, 10% to the experience owner and 30% to Roblox, and you have to be in the game for 60 seconds before the purchase completes.

| Buying a Limited inside a game | How it works |
| --- | --- |
| Where you tap | Avatar Inspect Menu, or a purchase prompt the game shows you |
| Which copy you get | Original stock first, then the cheapest resale copy |
| Resale split | 50% reseller, 10% creator, 10% experience owner, 30% Roblox |
| Original-stock split | 30% creator, 40% experience owner, 30% Roblox |
| Wait before it clears | 60 seconds inside the experience |
| Copies per account | 3 per item at most, and many drops set their own limit of 1 |
| Selling it again | A resale purchase holds the item for up to 7 days |

## Can you buy a Roblox Limited inside a game? Yes, original and resale copies both

Two separate things are going on, and mixing them up is what confuses most people.

The first is the original sale. When a creator publishes a UGC Limited, meaning a community-made item sold in a fixed number of copies, they pick where those copies go on sale. Plenty of creators pick experiences only, so the item never shows up in the Shop on the website at all. Our catalog data as of October 12, 2026 puts that at 140,004 of the 201,422 UGC Limiteds we track, around seven in ten, and 18,229 of them still have copies left.

The second is resale. Once an item sells out, players who own copies can list them, and Roblox's November 16, 2023 announcement on [purchasing in-experience Limited items from resellers](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/purchasing-in-experience-limited-items-from-resellers/2704152) opened those listings to in-game buying. Before that, a purchase inside a game could only pull from the creator's original stock, so a sold-out item was a dead end until you went back to the website.

Roblox's announcement and its fee documentation both describe this for community-made Limiteds. Neither says the same about classic Limiteds, the older items Roblox published itself, so for a Domino Crown or a Sparkle Time Fedora, treat the item's page on the website as the route that works.

## How do you open the Avatar Inspect Menu? Three ways from inside the game

Roblox's [Avatar Inspect Menu documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/en-us/players/avatar-inspect-menu) lists three ways in:

1. Open the game's main menu, go to the **Players** tab, and click **View** next to someone.
2. Click a player's name in the player list.
3. Pick the Inspect option in the Avatar Context Menu, which is a feature the game's developer has to switch on.

The menu is enabled by default, and it shows you the items that player is wearing, lets you try them on your own avatar, and lets you buy them on the spot. A developer can turn it off for their game, so if you tap through the player list and find nothing, that's the likely reason.

In practice it shines in a lobby. You see a hat you like on somebody, you open the menu, and you find out what it is and what the cheapest copy costs, all without leaving.

## Which copy do you get when you buy in a game? The original first, then the cheapest resale

For an item that still has original stock and resale listings at the same time, Roblox's announcement spells out the behavior. A prompted purchase offers you the creator's original copy. The inspect menu offers you the lowest-priced copy available.

You can't choose which copy you end up with. Every Limited copy carries a serial number, which is the numbered position it was minted in, and low serials sell at a premium among collectors. In-game buying hands you whatever copy sits at the bottom of the price ladder, serial included. If a specific serial is the point of the purchase, buy it from the item's page on the website, where you can see each listing.

## Who gets paid when you buy a Limited in a game? The experience owner takes a 10% cut

Roblox's [marketplace fees and commissions](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions) documentation sets out both splits, and they're worth seeing with round numbers.

On a resale of a community-made Limited priced at 10,000 Robux, the reseller keeps 5,000 (50%), the original creator gets 1,000 (10%), the seller or affiliate gets 1,000 (10%), and Roblox keeps 3,000 (30%). When the purchase happens inside an experience, the owner of that experience is the affiliate collecting that 1,000.

On an original copy of a UGC Limited priced at 1,000 Robux, the creator gets 300 (30%), the seller or affiliate gets 400 (40%), and Roblox keeps 300 (30%). A purchase made on the website pays no affiliate commission at all, so that 40% only exists in-experience. Classic Limited resales work on a plain 30% marketplace fee, leaving the seller 70%.

For the buyer, all of this is background. You pay the asking price either way. It matters if you're the one selling, because a reseller on a community-made Limited keeps half the sale price, which puts break-even at double what you paid. Our [Roblox marketplace fees guide](/articles/roblox-marketplace-fees-explained) works through more of that math.

## What does the in-game shelf look like? 50,986 experience-only items with a live listing

Experience-only items are a real market, and a cheap one. Of those 140,004 UGC Limiteds whose original copies were sold only inside experiences, 50,986 carry a live resale listing right now. The median cheapest listing among them is 1,672 Robux, and 16,155 of them ask 500 Robux or less.

Four examples, ordered by copy count, with figures from our catalog on October 12, 2026. RAP stands for Recent Average Price, Roblox's smoothed average of an item's past sale prices, and the lowest ask is the cheapest copy a reseller has listed.

| Item | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/15064770203?size=150) [Death's Shadow Valkyrie Helm](/item/15064770203) | 50 | 23,686 R$ | 31,313 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/15069456555?size=150) [Hellbound Horns of Eternal Burning](/item/15069456555) | 66 | 15,696 R$ | 5,555 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/133098689197607?size=150) [The Weeknd Onyx XO Chain](/item/133098689197607) | 100 | 17,704 R$ | 15,000 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/18492535319?size=150) [Korblox Shard Star Crown](/item/18492535319) | 150 | 14,069 R$ | 12,999 R$ |

Look at the gaps between those RAP figures and those asks. The Hellbound Horns ask 5,555 Robux against a 15,696 RAP, while the Death's Shadow Valkyrie asks 31,313 against 23,686. On items with 50 to 150 copies, a single holder changing their mind moves the cheapest listing a long way, so the floor and the RAP drift apart for weeks at a time. Our [valkyrie collection](/collections/valkyrie), [korblox collection](/collections/korblox) and [horns collection](/collections/horns) rank these families by live price if you want to see where an item sits against its relatives.

### A closer look: Death's Shadow Valkyrie Helm

Fifty copies, a UGC take on the most recognizable silhouette in Roblox collecting, and original copies that only ever sold inside an experience. Someone who wasn't in the right experience while those copies lasted never had a shot at the first sale. Every copy since has come from a reseller, and the cheapest listing today sits above RAP. That pattern repeats across the experience-only shelf: thin supply, patient holders, and a floor that answers to whoever is willing to undercut.

## Why did my in-game Limited purchase fail? The 60-second rule and the per-item caps

Roblox's fee documentation lists limits that catch people out, especially during a drop:

- You have to be in the experience for 60 seconds before an in-game purchase completes.
- One purchase request per item per account every 2 seconds.
- Nine successful purchases per minute per account.
- Three successful purchases per account per item. Individual drops can cap it lower, and 90,205 of the UGC Limiteds we track set a limit of one copy per account.

Two other things can stop you. The creator has to have switched resale on, and plenty never do, which our guide to [UGC Limiteds that can't be resold](/articles/why-some-ugc-limiteds-cant-be-resold) covers. And an item you just bought is locked for a while before you can list it: a resale purchase holds it for up to 7 days, and a launch purchase from the creator for up to 30. Roblox's fee page states the ceiling as 30 days from purchase, and the holding-period rules behind the shorter resale window are in our [Roblox holding periods guide](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods). Buying needs no subscription. Selling a copy later needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on your account, which runs $4.99 a month. Roblox's documentation also notes that resale of community-made Limiteds isn't available to accounts based in Japan.

## Should you buy in a game or on the website?

Price is the same, so this comes down to what you can see.

The inspect menu hands you the cheapest copy, which is the right copy to buy most of the time. The rest of the price ladder stays hidden, and the ladder is where the information sits. Our last snapshot of the Hellbound Horns found 2 listings in total; the Korblox Shard Star Crown had 16. Both of those floors look the same inside a game, and the first one jumps the moment somebody buys those two copies.

So a reasonable habit: buy on impulse in-game when the ask is small, and check the item page before anything that would hurt to get wrong. On RBX Invest, the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) screens the whole catalog by price, copies and RAP, [Deals](/deals) flags listings that drop under an item's usual floor and needs a signed-in account, and the [reseller terminal](/resell) tracks where your own listings sit in the queue. The [UGC Limiteds in stock](/collections/ugc-limiteds-in-stock) collection is the fastest way to find items whose original copies are still available, and [sold-out UGC Limiteds](/collections/sold-out-ugc-limiteds) covers the ones that have moved to resale only. Our breakdown of [where UGC Limiteds go on sale](/articles/where-to-buy-ugc-limiteds-sale-locations) has the full sale-location picture.

None of this is financial advice. Limited prices move on demand that can vanish, and plenty of items never return what you paid.

## FAQ

### Can you buy a Roblox Limited inside a game?

Yes. You can buy Limiteds inside an experience through the Avatar Inspect Menu or through a purchase prompt the game shows you. Since November 2023 this includes resale copies of sold-out community-made Limiteds, alongside the creator's original stock.

### Do you need Roblox Plus to buy a Limited in a game?

No. Any account can buy a Limited, in a game or on the website. You need an active Roblox Plus subscription, at $4.99 a month, to resell a copy afterwards or to trade classic Limiteds with another player.

### Which copy does the Avatar Inspect Menu sell you?

The cheapest one available. If the creator still has original copies on sale, a prompted purchase offers you an original copy first. Once an item is sold out, the inspect menu offers the lowest-priced resale listing, and you can't pick which serial number you get.

### Does the game owner get paid when you buy a Limited in their experience?

Yes. On a community-made Limited resale, the experience owner takes the 10% seller and affiliate share, with 50% to the reseller, 10% to the creator and 30% to Roblox. On an original copy, the affiliate share is 40%, alongside 30% to the creator and 30% to Roblox. Website purchases pay no affiliate commission.

### Why does my in-game Limited purchase take 60 seconds?

Roblox requires in-game buyers to be in the experience for 60 seconds before a purchase completes. The same documentation sets a cap of nine successful purchases a minute per account and one purchase request every two seconds for a given item.

### Can you buy classic Limiteds inside a game?

Roblox's documentation describes in-experience resale purchases for community-made Limiteds and says nothing about classic Limiteds, the items Roblox published itself. For those, buy from the item's page on the Roblox website, where every listing is visible.

### Can you resell a Limited straight after buying it in a game?

No. A resale purchase locks the copy for up to 7 days before you can list it, and a purchase from the creator at launch locks it for up to 30 days. Roblox's fee documentation gives 30 days from purchase as the ceiling.

### How many Limiteds were only ever sold inside experiences?

140,004 of the 201,422 UGC Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog as of October 12, 2026 carry a sale location that allows purchases only inside experiences or through the developer API. Of those, 50,986 have a live resale listing today, at a median cheapest ask of 1,672 Robux.
