*The Roblox Designer Shades series is six face accessories built on one 2009 design. Four are tradeable Limited U items, and Dr. Love leads on value.*

The Roblox Designer Shades series is a family of six face accessories that all grew out of one 2009 item, the W Inc. Designer Sunglasses. Four of them are Limited U (a Limited sold in a fixed stock where every copy carries its own serial number), and those four still trade: Dr. Love, Dr. Shamrock, Green Flash Shades and Fire Flash Shades. The other two, W Inc. itself and Gold Flash Shades, sit in inventories permanently because neither can be resold. Fire Flash Shades carries the highest RAP in the group at 92,627 R$, while trader consensus puts Dr. Love on top, since only 316 copies of it exist.

**Quick answer:** Four Designer Shades items are tradeable Limited U face accessories. Dr. Love is the scarcest at 316 copies and commands the highest street value, while Fire Flash Shades holds the highest RAP at 92,627 R$ as of September 2026.

Rows are ordered by consensus street value, which is what traders actually pay, and that order does not match the RAP column. RAP stands for Recent Average Price, a smoothed running average of an item's whole sale history, and it lags badly on items that sell a few times a year. We wrote up the full mechanic in [what RAP means on Roblox](/articles/what-is-rap-roblox).

## What is the Roblox Designer Shades series? Six face accessories from one 2009 design

A face accessory is a catalog item worn on the face, like glasses or a mask, which is separate from the 2D face items Roblox migrated to animated heads in 2026. Every Designer Shades item is a pair of sunglasses, and according to the [Roblox Wiki's series page](https://roblox.fandom.com/wiki/Designer_Shades_%28series%29), the five later items are all retextures of the original W Inc. design. That means one look, six colorways, released across seven years.

The full membership:

1. W Inc. Designer Sunglasses (2009, off-sale, never a Limited)
2. Dr. Love (2010, Limited U)
3. Dr. Shamrock (2011, Limited U)
4. Green Flash Shades (2011, Limited U)
5. Gold Flash Shades (2013, gift item, never a Limited)
6. Fire Flash Shades (2016, Limited U)

Two of those six will never appear on the resale market. That leaves a tradeable float, the number of copies that can actually change hands, of 2,266 across the whole family.

## Where did the series start? W Inc. Designer Sunglasses, December 2009

![W Inc. Designer Sunglasses](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/18757806?size=420)

[W Inc. Designer Sunglasses](/item/18757806) went up on December 2, 2009 at 9,500 Robux, an enormous number for a catalog accessory at the time. It was never a Limited, so anyone with the Robux could buy one for years. The Roblox Wiki records that it went off-sale in February 2016 during a President's Day sale, after a short timer at a reduced price.

Then it came back. On November 22, 2025, Roblox put W Inc. back on sale for 9,500 Robux on a roughly 24-hour timer as part of its Black Friday event, alongside seven other long-retired classics. It went off-sale again the following day, and our catalog confirms it is not for sale today.

That return is the single most important thing to understand about this family. A non-Limited item can be reprinted whenever Roblox decides to run a sale, and every new buyer spreads the look further. The four Limited U members can never be reprinted, which is the whole reason they carry a premium over a pair of shades anyone could have bought for a day in 2025.

## Which Designer Shades is worth the most? Dr. Love, on the thinnest supply

![Dr. Love](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/22314719?size=420)

[Dr. Love](/item/22314719) launched on Valentine's Day 2010 at 500 Robux. Our catalog counts 316 copies today, the smallest number in the family by a wide margin. Community records put the original stock at 400, and old Limited U items commonly read below their listed stock a decade and a half later. The other two early releases tell the same story in miniature: Dr. Shamrock is documented at 500 stock and counts 477, Green Flash Shades at 1,000 and counts 972.

Scarcity is doing the work. Dr. Love has roughly two-thirds the supply of Dr. Shamrock and about a third of Green Flash Shades, and traders price it accordingly even though its RAP sits in the middle of the pack.

The lowest ask is the fun part. Roblox's own item endpoint returns 9,999,999,999 R$ as the cheapest copy listed for sale. That is a placeholder price, one nobody is expected to pay, and it lets an owner keep a copy technically listed while making sure it never sells. The honest reading of a floor like that: no copy is genuinely available, and a buyer has to find an owner and negotiate. We covered the habit in [Roblox Limiteds listed for billions](/articles/roblox-limiteds-listed-for-billions).

### Dr. Shamrock, the St. Patrick's Day pair

[Dr. Shamrock](/item/48039359) arrived March 16, 2011, also at 500 Robux, with 477 copies today and a RAP of 74,576 R$. Its lowest ask sits at 90,000 R$, above RAP, which is the normal shape for a thin classic: sellers hold out above the average and buyers wait.

Dr. Love and Dr. Shamrock are the only two Designer Shades tied to a holiday, and both sold at 500 Robux a year apart. Dr. Shamrock got 51% more copies, and almost the entire gap between the two today is that supply difference.

### Green Flash Shades, the cheapest way into the series

[Green Flash Shades](/item/60675871) hit the catalog August 30, 2011 at 450 Robux with the largest print run in the family, and 972 copies survive. RAP is 69,822 R$ and the lowest ask is 65,000 R$, the lowest real listing in the series.

An ask under RAP on a classic Limited usually means a seller wants out quickly, or that recent trades have been softer than the smoothed average suggests. Fire Flash Shades sits slightly under its RAP too, so the family's floor is currently a touch below where RAP would put it. Green Flash Shades is the realistic entry point, and that 65,000 R$ floor is a genuine listing.

### Fire Flash Shades, the highest RAP in the series

![Fire Flash Shades](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/346675875?size=420)

[Fire Flash Shades](/item/346675875) released January 22, 2016 at 3,000 Robux, six times the price of the 2010 and 2011 members, with a stock of 500. Our catalog counts 501 copies and a RAP of 92,627 R$, the highest in the family, with a lowest ask of 88,000 R$.

Its original price is the story. Buyers who paid 3,000 Robux in 2016 are up roughly 30x on RAP, which sounds great until you line it up against Dr. Love: 500 Robux in 2010 for a copy that traders now rank above Fire Flash Shades. The 2016 buyer paid six times more for the pair a collector wants less.

## Can you still get Gold Flash Shades? Only from a 2013 gift box

Gold Flash Shades never went on sale directly. It came out of the Opened Admit One Gift during Giftsplosion 2013, Roblox's December gift event that ran from December 1 to 16, 2013 and released a run of mystery gift boxes tied to riddles and challenges. The Admit One box went to players who sold at least one paid-access game before December 5, 2013, and it could also be bought for 1,000 Robux on a four-day timer. The box later opened to reveal the shades.

Gold Flash Shades is a gift item. Gift items carry no RAP, no fixed copy count in our catalog and no resale market, so owners keep theirs for good. The era is covered in our [Roblox mystery gift boxes history](/articles/roblox-mystery-gift-boxes-history) writeup.

## Why does RAP disagree with street value here? Too few sales to move the average

RAP is a smoothed average over every sale an item has ever had. The formula moves the number by one tenth of the gap between the old RAP and each new sale price, so a single trade barely shifts it. On an item that sells three or four times a year, RAP is mostly a memory of older trades.

Dr. Love is the clean example. Its RAP of 71,610 R$ is below both Dr. Shamrock and Fire Flash Shades, yet traders value it above either one. With 316 copies and a placeholder floor, there simply are not enough sales to pull the average toward what an owner would actually accept. Green Flash Shades sits at the other end: nearly a thousand copies, a real listing at 65,000 R$, and a RAP that tracks close to it.

In practice, on items with fewer than about 500 copies, treat RAP as a starting point and check the reseller ladder before you make an offer. Current asks and recent movement show up on every item page and on the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard), and [Deals](/deals) flags below-RAP listings as they appear, though it needs a signed-in account.

## What drives the Designer Shades premium? Fixed supply and a Clockwork lookalike

Three things, in order of weight.

**Supply that cannot grow.** Limited U stock is fixed at release. Copies only leave circulation, which is why 2010-era items read below their original stock numbers. Across all four tradeable members there are 2,266 copies in total, against 10,647 for [The Classic ROBLOX Fedora](/item/1029025) on its own.

**The Clockwork resemblance.** The Roblox Wiki describes the Designer Shades as closely resembling [Clockwork's Shades](/item/11748356), one of the most recognizable classics on the platform. Clockwork's Shades has a RAP of 1,978,082 R$ and a lowest ask near 1.45 million. A pair of Designer Shades gets you a comparable silhouette for somewhere between 65,000 and 90,000 R$. Collectors who cannot reach seven figures often land here, and you can compare the whole line on the [Clockwork collection](/collections/clockwork).

**Age.** Three of the four launched between 2010 and 2011, which puts them among the older tradeable classics. Whether age alone raises value is a longer argument, and we took it apart in [are older Roblox Limiteds worth more](/articles/are-older-roblox-limiteds-worth-more).

Browse the rest of the category on the [classic face accessories collection](/collections/classic-face-accessories), or filter by scarcity on [Limiteds under 1,000 copies](/collections/limiteds-under-1000-copies).

## How do fees and holding periods work if you sell one? 30% fee, 7-day hold

All four tradeable Designer Shades are Classic Limiteds, meaning Roblox created them, so the Classic rules apply. Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee on a resale and the seller keeps 70%. Sell a Dr. Shamrock at 90,000 R$ and you receive 63,000 R$. To break even on a resale you need roughly 1.43 times what you paid.

Holding periods are short here. Buy a Classic Limited on the resale market and you wait up to 7 days before you can resell it. Receive one in a trade and the hold is 2 days. Reselling requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account, and trading requires one on both sides. Roblox Plus is the only subscription that opens trading, reselling and Marketplace publishing. Roblox's [marketplace documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions) is where to check these numbers when they change.

Classic Limiteds are also the only items the player-to-player Trade system accepts, so you can put a Designer Shades item into a trade window, which UGC Limiteds cannot do. Our [Limited vs Limited U guide](/articles/limited-vs-limited-u-roblox) explains why these four carry serial numbers while most classics do not.

## What should a collector watch here? Dr. Love's supply and another W Inc. reprint

Dr. Love is the one to track, and it is also the hardest to buy. With a placeholder floor, the only route is finding an owner, and owners of 316-copy items do not sell in a hurry. If you want a pair of Designer Shades on your avatar this month, Green Flash Shades at 65,000 R$ is the purchase you can actually make today.

The risk worth naming: W Inc. came back on sale in November 2025 after nine years off. Roblox has shown it will reprint retired non-Limited classics for a day. A second W Inc. reprint cannot touch the Limited U copy counts. It can soften how special the design feels, and Fire Flash Shades, with the highest RAP and the youngest release, has the most to lose if that happens.

None of this is financial advice. Limited prices move, and a market this thin moves fast in both directions.

Prices, copy counts and lowest asks in this article come from the RBX Invest catalog and Roblox's own item endpoints as of September 23, 2026; release dates, original prices, series membership and event history come from Roblox's marketplace documentation and the Roblox Wiki.

## FAQ

### What is the Roblox Designer Shades series?

The Designer Shades series is six Roblox face accessories built from one design: W Inc. Designer Sunglasses (2009), Dr. Love (2010), Dr. Shamrock (2011), Green Flash Shades (2011), Gold Flash Shades (2013) and Fire Flash Shades (2016). Four are Limited U items that can be traded and resold, while W Inc. and Gold Flash Shades stay in their owners' inventories permanently.

### Which Designer Shades item is worth the most?

Dr. Love carries the highest street value in the series because only 316 copies exist, the smallest count in the family. Fire Flash Shades has the highest RAP at 92,627 R$ as of September 2026, but RAP lags on items that rarely sell, and traders price Dr. Love above it.

### Can you still buy W Inc. Designer Sunglasses?

No. W Inc. Designer Sunglasses is off-sale and has no resale market, because it was never made a Limited. It last appeared on November 22, 2025 for about 24 hours at its original 9,500 Robux price during Roblox's Black Friday sale, then went off-sale again the following day.

### How do you get Gold Flash Shades?

You cannot get Gold Flash Shades any more. It came out of the Opened Admit One Gift during Giftsplosion 2013, awarded to players who sold a paid-access game before December 5, 2013, or bought for 1,000 Robux on a four-day timer. It is a gift item, so it has no resale market.

### Are Designer Shades tradeable?

Yes, the four Limited U members are. Dr. Love, Dr. Shamrock, Green Flash Shades and Fire Flash Shades are Classic Limiteds created by Roblox, and the player-to-player Trade system accepts Classic Limiteds. Both sides of a trade need an active Roblox Plus subscription.

### Why is Dr. Love's lowest price almost 10 billion Robux?

Because the cheapest copy listed carries a placeholder price that nobody is expected to pay. Owners of very scarce Limiteds sometimes list at an impossible number so their copy stays technically for sale without anyone buying it. No Dr. Love is genuinely available at that floor, so a buyer has to negotiate with an owner directly.

### How much does Roblox take when you resell a Designer Shades item?

Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee on a Classic Limited resale, so the seller keeps 70%. A 90,000 R$ sale returns 63,000 R$. Reselling also requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account, though the buyer of a resale needs no subscription.

### Which Designer Shades is the cheapest to buy?

Green Flash Shades, with a lowest ask of 65,000 R$ as of September 2026. It has the largest print run in the series at 972 copies, and its floor is the lowest genuine listing among the four tradeable members.
