*Roblox won't return Limiteds lost in a trade or an off-platform deal. Compromised accounts get one narrow path: contact Support within 30 days.*

Roblox does not give back a Limited that left your account in a scam. Its [trading help page](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313310-Trading-on-Roblox) states that once a trade is complete it "cannot be reversed, refunded, or disputed," and that Roblox will not undo it or return your items or Robux for any reason. For deals arranged anywhere outside Roblox's own Trade and Sell features, the company says it cannot enforce them and cannot return your items or Robux. One narrow exception covers stolen accounts: Roblox says that in very limited circumstances it may be able to offer a compromised account owner the ability to recover lost inventory or the approximate value of that inventory, and you have to contact Support within 30 days of the compromise.

**Quick answer:** Roblox will not reverse a trade or refund a resale purchase, and it offers no recovery at all for deals made off-platform. A compromised account is the only situation with a path to a restore, and that path closes 30 days after the compromise.

| What happened | Does Roblox return the item? | Your move |
| --- | --- | --- |
| You accepted a trade you regret | No. Completed trades cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed | Check every offer before you accept |
| A deal was arranged off Roblox (a "middleman", an account sale, real money) | No. Roblox cannot enforce deals made outside its official features | Report Abuse on the other account |
| You bought a copy from a reseller and changed your mind | No. Roblox does not return Robux after a purchase | Wait out the hold, then list it again |
| Someone got into your account and moved your items | Possible in very limited circumstances | Contact Support within 30 days |

## Does Roblox reverse a completed trade? No, every trade is final

A Limited is a collectible avatar item that was sold for a while, went off sale, and now only changes hands between players. Classic Limiteds, the ones Roblox itself published, are the only items the player-to-player trade window can move, and both accounts need an active Roblox Plus subscription to use it.

Roblox's trading help page puts the rule in one line: "Trades are final. Once a trade is complete, it cannot be reversed, refunded, or disputed. Roblox will not undo it or return your items or Robux for any reason." No appeal queue exists for a trade you agreed to, and no support ticket unwinds one, because the whole decision sits on the Accept button.

A misread worth clearing up: the holding period, the stretch of time after an item changes hands when the new owner cannot resell it, gets treated as a cooling-off window. All it does is block reselling while it runs. A classic Limited is locked for 2 days after a trade and 7 days after a resale purchase, and while that lock runs the item stays with its new owner. [Holding periods have their own rules](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods) worth knowing before you plan around them.

Robux thrown into a trade follows the item out the door. Roblox takes a 30% fee on any Robux included once the offer is accepted, and what you add cannot exceed 50% of the value of the items you offered after that fee, so a 300 Robux item caps you at 150 Robux. Those Robux are as final as the hat, so [treat the Robux side of a trade](/articles/add-robux-to-roblox-trade) as carefully as the item side.

## Can Roblox restore items from a hacked account? Only in very limited cases, within 30 days

This is the one situation with any chance attached. Roblox's [account-compromise help page](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313390-My-account-was-hacked-What-do-I-do) sets out the policy in three parts, and each part matters:

1. "Unless required by law, Roblox is under no obligation to assist users whose accounts have been compromised."
2. Roblox "does not guarantee that an individual's account will be restored to its previous state, or that Roblox will be able to recover lost virtual items or virtual currency."
3. "Only in very limited circumstances, Roblox may be able to offer compromised account owners the ability to recover lost inventory or the approximate value of that inventory. In case your account is compromised, and you seek assistance, you must contact Roblox within 30 days of compromise."

Treat it as a hard deadline. File the ticket the day you notice, even while you are still cleaning up your computer, because a late ticket forfeits the chance entirely. Watch the wording on what comes back: lost inventory *or the approximate value* of it, so a restore can arrive as Robux standing in for the copy you lost. That matters if you owned a specific serial number, the copy identifier printed on a Limited U item, like #45 of 100.

Getting the account itself back runs on a separate track. Roblox verifies you with the first email address ever added to the account or the billing email from the very first payment on it, and says up front that supplying those details does not guarantee recovery. Worth knowing today which email your account started with.

Roblox does act against the other side. Its help page calls stealing accounts, items or currency a severe violation of the Terms of Use and says any and all associated accounts involved in theft will be deleted. That enforcement protects the next player in line. Your copy stays wherever the thief moved it, usually resold within hours.

## What about deals made outside the trade window? Roblox cannot enforce any of them

The [scam-prevention help page](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203312390-How-to-avoid-trading-scams) opens with the sentence every trader should memorize: "Roblox cannot enforce deals made outside our official features. If you make a deal outside these features and the other player breaks it, Roblox cannot return your items or Robux."

That sentence covers most of what people report as scams. The same page lists the deals to refuse outright. Do not use trades or sales to pay for accounts, real world money or groups. Do not lend out your account or your items, and do not let anyone "borrow" them. Do not agree to a deal where one person has to go first and trust the other. Do not hand your item to someone to sell or trade on your behalf.

Each of those asks you to step outside the trade window, where no record of the agreement exists for anyone to act on. There is a second cost too, since [trading items or Robux for anything off-platform](/articles/what-is-cross-trading-roblox) puts your own account at risk of moderation. When someone pitches you one of these deals, the Report Abuse buttons across the site are the response Roblox asks for, and our [breakdown of the common trading scams](/articles/roblox-trading-scams-how-to-avoid-them) covers how each one is usually dressed up.

## Can a UGC Limited be taken in a trade? No, they are not tradeable

A UGC Limited is a limited-quantity item published by a community creator, sold in a set number of copies and resellable afterwards. The trade window does not accept them, and they move only through Marketplace resales, so nobody can pull one out of your inventory with a clever trade offer.

That leaves account access as the realistic threat to a UGC collection, along with buying the wrong thing in the first place. [Roblox does not refund a Limited](/articles/can-you-refund-a-roblox-limited) because you misread a listing, and the expensive version of that mistake is paying gem-tier money, what collectors call the scarce high-value end of the market, for a copycat item. Check the creator and the asset ID, the item's own number on Roblox, before you buy. We have written up [how name-squatting fakes work](/articles/roblox-fake-limiteds-name-squatting) and the checks that catch them.

## Which Roblox features protect your items before they leave?

Two features do the work support cannot do afterwards.

### The Trade Quality Filter hides one-sided offers

Roblox automatically checks incoming trade offers and hides ones that look unfair, such as an offer asking for a valuable item in return for something worth far less. You set the level in Account Settings under Privacy & content restrictions, then Trading & inventory. None lets every offer through, and Low, Medium or High set a minimum quality below which offers are hidden from your inbox. Roblox is direct about the limit of this: no filter can catch every bad deal, and deals made outside the official features are never protected.

### Delayed Actions freezes a sensitive action for hours

[Delayed Actions](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/48384547466772-Delayed-Actions) is Roblox's security hold on sensitive activity, and it is the feature most collectors have never heard of. When a request looks risky, say one coming from a new device, a new location, or a session showing signs of malware, Roblox blocks the action, starts a mandatory wait of typically several hours, and sends a security notification to your registered email and your other active devices. The "No, it's not me" link in that notification logs the intruder out of your account.

Roblox applies these delays to significant account changes and to the movement of assets, and says it may expand the coverage over time. If a delay catches you doing something legitimate, a trusted passkey (a sign-in tied to your phone or laptop instead of a password) or a hardware security key that has sat on your account for a while will usually let you skip the wait, as will working from a device you use often. Very large group payouts can be barred from any bypass.

## What should you do in the first hour after items disappear?

Roblox's recovery page puts these steps in a deliberate order, and the order matters: resetting a password while malware is still running just hands over the new one.

1. Clean the machine first. Run a full virus scan, restart, and run it again. Remove browser extensions you did not install from a source you trust.
2. Reset your password to something you have never used elsewhere.
3. Turn on [2-Step Verification](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/212459863-Add-2-Step-Verification-to-Your-Account) in Settings under Security. It needs a verified email on the account, Roblox recommends the authenticator app option, and you can pick only one method at a time. Generate recovery codes while you are in there and save them somewhere safe, because Roblox shows them once.
4. Check your email for a Delayed Actions notification. If something is still pending, the "No, it's not me" link ends the intruder's session.
5. Contact Support about the lost inventory inside the 30-day window, with your original email or first billing email ready.
6. Report Abuse on the account that took the items.

One change from this year affects step 5 more than people expect. Roblox now requires two different verification methods on file to recover an account with 2-Step Verification turned on, announced on the [Roblox developer forum](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/upcoming-changes-to-account-recovery-for-users-with-2sv/4326491) on February 2, 2026 and fully enforced by that March. Roblox's own warning: if you do not have sufficient backup methods added, you may be unable to regain access to your account. Adding a passkey, recovery codes, or a phone number (for users 13 and over) takes about two minutes.

## How much is actually riding on account security?

RBX Invest catalog data as of September 2026 tracks 2,978 classic Limiteds, and 74 of them carry a RAP of a million Robux or more. RAP, or recent average price, is Roblox's smoothed average of an item's whole sale history, and it gives a rough read on what a copy is worth. One account holding a few items from [the most expensive end of the market](/collections/most-expensive-limiteds) can carry more value than most players earn in years, and the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) shows how steep that top end gets.

Set against that, the protections cost nothing. An authenticator app, two recovery methods and a trade filter level take one sitting to set up, and they are the part of this subject you control. Support's answer after the fact is almost always no.

This article describes platform rules and is not financial advice. Trading and reselling Limiteds carries real risk of loss.

Policy and feature details come from Roblox's own help pages for trading, trading scams, account compromise, Delayed Actions and account safety, plus the Roblox developer forum announcement on account recovery for users with 2-Step Verification, all checked on September 28, 2026, with fee rules cross-checked against Roblox's Marketplace documentation at create.roblox.com the same day; item counts come from RBX Invest catalog data as of September 28, 2026.

## FAQ

### Does Roblox return scammed Limiteds?

No. Roblox states that it cannot return items or Robux lost in deals made outside its official Trade and Sell features, and that a completed trade cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed. The only exception is a compromised account, where Roblox may help in very limited circumstances if you contact Support within 30 days.

### Can a Roblox trade be reversed?

No. Roblox's trading help page says a completed trade cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed, and that Roblox will not undo it or return your items or Robux for any reason. Review an offer fully before you accept it, because acceptance is the point of no return.

### Will Roblox restore items from a hacked account?

Sometimes, but do not count on it. Roblox says it is under no obligation to assist and does not guarantee recovery, and that only in very limited circumstances may it offer a compromised owner the ability to recover lost inventory or the approximate value of that inventory. You must contact Roblox within 30 days of the compromise.

### How long do I have to report a compromised Roblox account?

30 days from the compromise, according to Roblox's account-compromise help page. Filing later forfeits any chance of an inventory recovery, so submit the ticket as soon as you notice, even before you finish securing your computer.

### Does Roblox punish the person who scammed me?

Yes, when you report them. Roblox calls stealing accounts, items or currency a severe violation of the Terms of Use and says any and all associated accounts involved in theft will be deleted. That deletion does not send your copy back to you, since it has usually been resold by then.

### Can I get a refund on a Limited I bought from a reseller?

No. Roblox does not return Robux after a purchase. Once the 7-day holding period on a resale purchase expires you can list the item again, which is the only route back to Robux, and you take whatever the market pays that day.

### What is Delayed Actions on Roblox?

Delayed Actions is a security feature that puts a mandatory wait, typically several hours, on sensitive actions started from an unfamiliar or high-risk session, then notifies your registered email and active devices. It gives you a window to log an intruder out with the "No, it's not me" link before assets move.

### Does the Trade Quality Filter stop scams?

It stops the crudest ones. The filter automatically hides incoming offers below the quality level you set in Account Settings, which clears out obviously one-sided offers. Roblox notes that no filter catches every bad deal, and that deals made outside the official features get no protection at all.
