*How much Robux do you need to trade Roblox Limiteds? The cheapest classic Limited listing is 105 R$, and Roblox Plus costs $4.99 a month.*

You need two things to start trading Roblox Limiteds: an active Roblox Plus subscription, which costs $4.99 USD per month, and enough Robux to buy at least one Limited. A Limited is an item with a fixed number of copies that owners can resell to each other. The cheapest classic Limited listed for resale in the RBX Invest catalog on October 9, 2026 asks 105 R$, and the cheapest UGC Limited asks 30 R$. The median classic Limited listing sits at 9,000 R$, so a starting budget of a few thousand Robux gives you real choices instead of one cheap item.

**Quick answer:** Roblox Plus at $4.99 a month plus roughly 100 R$ gets you into your first Limited, but 2,000 to 10,000 R$ is where you can own two or three items and survive one bad buy.

Five real listings from RBX Invest catalog data on October 9, 2026, ordered by lowest ask. Lowest ask is the cheapest price anyone currently has that item listed at. RAP means Recent Average Price, Roblox's smoothed average of everything an item has ever sold for. Copies is how many of that item exist in total.

## Do you need Robux to trade Roblox Limiteds? Yes, plus a Roblox Plus subscription

Trading is the player-to-player swap system, where you offer your items and ask for someone else's. It needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on both accounts, yours and the other person's. Plus launched on April 30, 2026 at $4.99 USD per month, and Roblox's creator documentation lists trading, reselling, and publishing avatar items as subscriber benefits.

That subscription is the one cost you cannot dodge, so count it first. At $4.99 a month, a year of trading costs about $60 before you have spent a single Robux on an item.

The documentation also states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable. Those are the classic Limiteds, the hats and faces and gear that Roblox itself released. UGC Limiteds, the ones made by community creators since April 2023, can only change hands through Marketplace resales. If your plan is pure trading rather than reselling, the classic side of the market is where you have to shop. Our [guide to starting out in Roblox trading](/articles/how-to-start-trading-roblox-limiteds) walks through the mechanics.

## What is the cheapest Roblox Limited you can buy? 105 R$ today

On October 9, 2026, RBX Invest tracked 2,460 classic Limiteds with a live resale listing. The lowest ask among them was 105 R$, on the Glossy Red Baseball Cap. That cap has 10,000,000 copies and Roblox is still selling it new, with 9,491,746 copies unsold when we checked. Its lowest resale ask still matches its original 105 R$ catalog price, because supply that large leaves nothing for price to climb on.

UGC Limiteds go cheaper and there are far more of them: 85,339 with a live listing, with a lowest ask of 30 R$ and a quarter of them asking 219 R$ or less.

The medians are what you should plan around. Half of all listed classic Limiteds ask 9,000 R$ or more. Half of all listed UGC Limiteds ask 999 R$ or more. So 100 R$ technically buys you a Limited, while 9,000 R$ buys you a typical one. You can browse the bottom of the market on the [Limiteds under 100 Robux collection](/collections/cheap-limiteds-under-100) and the [under 1,000 Robux collection](/collections/limiteds-under-1000), both live-ranked, or screen the whole catalog by price on the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard).

### What the price ladder looks like in practice

Look at the copy counts in the table above. The 105 R$ cap has ten million copies. The 46,999 R$ vampire hat has 315. Scarcity is what sets these prices. The cheap end of the Limited market is mostly items Roblox minted in enormous quantities: event eggs, giveaway hats, mass-release accessories.

That matters for a small budget. Spending your first 300 R$ on a 62,689-copy egg buys you a real Limited, and it also buys you an item that thousands of people can undercut you on tomorrow. The [Orange Peel Fedora](/item/1016167673) at 1,000 R$ sits in the same situation with 22,368 copies, though fedoras carry more collector demand than eggs do. You can compare the whole family on the [fedoras collection page](/collections/fedoras).

## How does the resale fee change the budget you need?

This is where most new traders lose money, so do the arithmetic before you buy.

When you resell a classic Limited, Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee and you keep 70% of the sale price. Sell at 10,000 R$ and 7,000 R$ lands in your account. To break even you need to sell for about 1.43 times what you paid.

UGC Limiteds are harsher. Roblox's marketplace documentation sets the community-created resale split at 50% to the reseller, 10% to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox. You keep half. Buy a UGC Limited at 2,000 R$ and you need 4,000 R$ to get your money back.

| Resale type | You keep | Break-even multiple | Buy at 5,000 R$, need to sell at |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Classic Limited | 70% | about 1.43x | about 7,150 R$ |
| UGC Limited | 50% | 2x | 10,000 R$ |

Buying from a creator at launch works differently. The documentation gives that split as 30% to the creator, 40% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox, with the affiliate share going to the owner of the experience when the purchase happens in-game. Website purchases pay no affiliate commission.

The practical lesson for a budget is simple. A 500 R$ starting stake can only work if you find something badly underpriced, because an ordinary buy-and-sell at market prices hands 30% to 50% of your money to the fee. Bigger budgets absorb the fee better. Our [marketplace fees breakdown](/articles/roblox-marketplace-fees-explained) covers every case.

## How much Robux should a first-time trader start with?

The honest ranges look like this, measured against what the market actually charges.

Under 1,000 R$, you can own one or two mass-minted items and learn the interface. You will not make meaningful profit, and the fee will eat most of any gain. Treat it as tuition.

Between 2,000 and 10,000 R$, you can hold two or three items in different parts of the market, which means one bad buy does not wipe you out. This is the range where tracking prices starts to pay for itself.

Above 10,000 R$, you reach the median classic Limited and the items with a few hundred to a few thousand copies, where demand is thinner but price moves are larger. Thin markets cut both ways, and a few-hundred-copy hat can sit unsold for weeks.

Whatever you start with, keep some Robux uninvested. The best buys appear when someone lists well under the going rate, and sniping one, meaning buying it before anybody else notices, only works if you have spare Robux at that moment. The [Deals feed](/deals) surfaces listings priced below RAP and needs a signed-in account.

None of this is financial advice. Robux you spend on Limiteds can lose value, and prices in this article were accurate on one specific day.

## Can you turn trading profits back into real money? No

Roblox's marketplace documentation is direct about this: Robux acquired from trading or selling items that you did not create are not considered earned, and are ineligible for the Developer Exchange program. DevEx is the only official route from Robux to cash.

So trading profit stays as Robux. You can spend it on more Limiteds, on avatar items, on game passes, but you cannot cash it out. Anyone offering to buy your Limiteds for real money is proposing an off-platform trade, which breaks Roblox's rules and has no protection if they simply keep your item. Our [Robux to USD guide](/articles/robux-to-usd-devex-rates) explains what DevEx does cover, and the [trading scams guide](/articles/roblox-trading-scams-how-to-avoid-them) covers the rest.

## How long is your Robux locked up after you buy a Limited?

Longer than new traders expect. Roblox's documentation states that after you purchase a Limited there is a holding period of up to 30 days during which the item cannot be resold. Buying on the resale market rather than from a creator at launch carries a shorter wait of up to 7 days.

Classic Limiteds received in a trade have their own two-day hold before you can trade them on again. Plan your budget around those gaps, because money tied up in an item you are not allowed to sell yet is money you cannot use to snipe something better. The [holding periods guide](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods) has the full timings.

Sale proceeds also take time to clear, so a 10,000 R$ sale does not become 10,000 R$ of buying power the same afternoon. Our [pending Robux guide](/articles/pending-robux-after-limited-sale) covers that wait.

## What else should you budget for?

A few costs new traders forget:

- **The Plus subscription renews monthly.** If you stop paying, you stop being able to trade or resell, though you keep the items you own.
- **The Plus purchase discount does not help on resales.** Subscribers get 10% off eligible purchases for their first two months and 20% from the third month, funded by Roblox, and the documentation excludes items priced above 1,000,000 Robux, publishing fees, ad credits, and group fees. It applies when you buy from the catalog rather than from another player.
- **Mistakes.** Overpaying for a projected item, one whose listed price has been pushed far above what it actually sells for, is the most common way a starting budget disappears. Learn to [spot projected items](/articles/projected-items-roblox-limiteds-explained) before you spend.

## FAQ

### How much Robux do you need to start trading Roblox Limiteds?

Enough for a Roblox Plus subscription at $4.99 USD per month plus at least one Limited. The cheapest classic Limited listing in the RBX Invest catalog on October 9, 2026 asked 105 R$, but 2,000 to 10,000 R$ is a more workable starting stake because it lets you hold two or three items.

### What is the cheapest Roblox Limited you can buy right now?

On October 9, 2026 the lowest classic Limited ask tracked by RBX Invest was 105 R$, on the Glossy Red Baseball Cap, which has 10,000,000 copies. Among UGC Limiteds the lowest ask was 30 R$. That floor, the lowest live ask in the market, moves daily, so check the [under 100 Robux collection](/collections/cheap-limiteds-under-100) for the current bottom of the market.

### Do you need Roblox Plus to trade Limiteds?

Yes. Trading requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on both accounts in the trade, and reselling requires one on the seller's account. Roblox Plus launched April 30, 2026 at $4.99 USD per month. The buyer of a resale listing needs no subscription.

### How much of a resale do you keep after fees?

You keep 70% when you resell a classic Limited, since Roblox takes a 30% marketplace fee. On a UGC Limited you keep 50%, with Roblox's documentation splitting the rest as 10% to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox.

### Can you trade UGC Limiteds on Roblox?

No. Roblox's marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable. UGC Limiteds, made by community creators, change hands only through Marketplace resales, so a trading budget has to be spent on classic Limiteds.

### Can you cash out Robux you made from trading?

No. Roblox's documentation says Robux acquired from trading or selling items you did not create are not considered earned and are ineligible for the Developer Exchange program. Trading profit stays as Robux and can only be spent on the platform.

### How long before you can resell a Limited you just bought?

Up to 30 days according to Roblox's marketplace documentation. Buying on the resale market instead of from the creator at launch carries a shorter hold of up to 7 days, and classic Limiteds received in a trade have a two-day hold before they can be traded again.

### What is a typical price for a Roblox Limited?

The median classic Limited with a live resale listing asked 9,000 R$ on October 9, 2026, across 2,460 listed items. The median UGC Limited listing asked 999 R$, across 85,339 listed items. Half the market sits above each of those numbers.
