*To sell a Roblox Limited you need Roblox Plus, a finished holding period and a price at the resale floor. You keep 70% on a classic and 50% on a UGC.*

To sell a Roblox Limited, an avatar item with a capped number of copies that owners are allowed to resell, you list your copy on that item's own Roblox page, and three things have to line up first: an active Roblox Plus subscription on your account, a finished holding period on that copy, and a price low enough that a buyer picks you over everyone else selling the same item. What reaches your account is a share of the sale. Roblox's marketplace documentation sets the reseller's share of a UGC Limited (an avatar item a community creator made and capped at a set number of copies) at 50%, and the marketplace fee on a classic Limited (one Roblox itself made) is 30%, leaving the seller 70%.

**Quick answer:** Selling a Roblox Limited takes Roblox Plus ($4.99 per month), a copy whose holding period has ended, and a price at or just under the item's current lowest ask. You keep 70% of the sale price on a classic Limited and 50% on a UGC Limited, so you break even at roughly 1.43x what you paid for a classic and 2x what you paid for a UGC.

| | Classic Limited (made by Roblox) | UGC Limited (made by a creator) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Subscription needed to list a copy | Roblox Plus | Roblox Plus |
| Share of the sale price you keep | 70% | 50% |
| Price where you break even | about 1.43x your cost | 2x your cost |
| Wait after buying at launch from the creator | Not applicable | up to 30 days |
| Wait after buying a copy on resale | up to 7 days | up to 7 days |
| Wait after getting one in a trade | 2 days | Not applicable |
| Can be traded instead of sold | Yes | No |

## Who can sell a Roblox Limited? Any owner with a Roblox Plus subscription

Owning the item is the easy half. Listing it for resale needs Roblox Plus, the $4.99 per month subscription that launched on April 30, 2026 and carries trading, reselling and Marketplace publishing. Buying is open to everyone, so the person purchasing your copy needs no subscription at all. That asymmetry catches a lot of new collectors: they buy a Limited for 2,000 R$ in their first week, decide a month later to flip it, and discover the sell button is behind a subscription they never bought. If you only plan to sell one cheap item, the subscription can cost more than the profit.

Two extra conditions apply to UGC Limiteds. The original creator has to have reselling enabled on the item, and Roblox's documentation states that reselling community-created Limiteds is unavailable for accounts based in Japan. Trading, the other way a Limited changes hands, is currently restricted for accounts based in South Korea and needs Roblox Plus on both sides of the trade.

Our own guide to [buying a Roblox Limited](/articles/how-to-buy-a-roblox-limited) covers the other side of the same transaction if you are still filling the inventory you plan to sell from.

## When can you sell a Limited you just got? After its holding period ends

A holding period is a lock on a specific copy. During it, the copy stays in your inventory and nobody can buy it from you. Roblox's marketplace documentation puts it plainly: after purchasing a Limited, there is up to a 30 day holding period when the item cannot be resold.

How long you actually wait depends on how the copy arrived:

- Bought from the creator at launch, which only happens with UGC Limiteds: up to 30 days.
- Bought from another player on the resale market: up to 7 days.
- Received in a trade, which only happens with classic Limiteds: 2 days.

Plan around that before you buy anything you intend to flip quickly. A drop that everyone expects to spike in week one is still locked in your inventory during week one. Our [holding periods explainer](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods) walks through each case with dates.

## How do you list a Limited for sale? Four decisions, in order

The listing itself takes about a minute on Roblox. The four decisions behind it are what separate a copy that sells from a copy that sits.

1. **Confirm the copy is eligible.** Roblox Plus active, holding period finished, reselling enabled by the creator if the item is UGC.
2. **Read the item's current lowest ask.** That number, often called the resale floor, is the cheapest copy anyone is currently selling. It is the price a buyer sees first, and on most items it is the only price they look at.
3. **Pick your price against that floor.** Matching it puts you in a queue behind sellers who listed earlier. Going under it puts your copy at the front.
4. **List it.** Your copy joins the item's reseller list, where buyers see it next to every other copy on sale.

An item page here, say the [Perfectly Legitimate Business Hat](/item/19027209), shows the live floor, the RAP and the copy count side by side, so you can make all four calls from one screen. If you sell often, the [reseller terminal](/resell) tracks your positions and the asks under you.

## How much do you keep when a Limited sells? 70% on classic, 50% on UGC

Roblox takes its cut out of the sale price before anything reaches you, and the cut differs by item type.

On a UGC Limited resale, Roblox's fee documentation splits the sale 50% to the reseller, 10% to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox. Sell a UGC Limited for 1,000 R$ and 500 R$ lands in your account. On a classic Limited, the marketplace fee is 30% and you keep 700 R$ of that same 1,000 R$ sale.

Those two numbers set your break-even. A classic Limited has to resell at about 1.43x what you paid before you are even. A UGC Limited has to resell at 2x. Doubling your money on paper and breaking even in practice is the most common beginner mistake in the UGC market.

Today's asks pay out like this, using live catalog figures from September 18, 2026:

| Item | Type | Lowest ask | RAP | You keep if it sells at that ask |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/19027209?size=150) [Perfectly Legitimate Business Hat](/item/19027209) | Classic | 4,000 R$ | 3,844 R$ | 2,800 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1048037?size=150) [Bighead](/item/1048037) | Classic | 3,099 R$ | 2,748 R$ | 2,169 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/20573078?size=150) [Shaggy](/item/20573078) | Classic | 1,500 R$ | 1,500 R$ | 1,050 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/17520094851?size=150) [Fairy Princess Preppy Low Braids (Blonde & Pink)](/item/17520094851) | UGC | 2,200 R$ | 2,195 R$ | 1,100 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/104966976559633?size=150) [Wood Valk](/item/104966976559633) | UGC | 2,000 R$ | 1,056 R$ | 1,000 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/95907863633330?size=150) [Gold Star Crown](/item/95907863633330) | UGC | 232 R$ | 223 R$ | 116 R$ |

Look at the Wood Valk row. The cheapest copy asks 2,000 R$ while the item's RAP sits at 1,056 R$, and a sale at that ask pays the seller 1,000 R$. Anyone who bought that copy above 1,000 R$ is selling at a loss while the listing still looks like a premium price. Our [marketplace fees breakdown](/articles/roblox-marketplace-fees-explained) has the full math for both item types.

## What price should you set? Work from the floor, then check RAP

RAP stands for Recent Average Price. Every time a copy sells, the item's RAP moves one tenth of the way from its old value toward that sale price, so it is a smoothed average of the item's whole sale history. It tells you where sales have been landing. The floor tells you what a buyer can pay right now.

Catalog data from September 18, 2026 shows how far apart those two numbers usually sit. Across 2,499 classic Limiteds with both a live ask and a RAP, 66.5% are listed above RAP, and the median floor sits at 1.09x RAP. Across 71,963 UGC Limiteds, 73.9% are listed above RAP and the median floor sits at **2.40x RAP**.

That 2.40x is the 50% fee showing up in the market. UGC sellers need a double to get their Robux back, so they ask for a double, and a huge share of those asks simply sit there. If your copy has been listed for weeks on a UGC item, the price is usually the reason. Copies priced to the floor are the ones that sell, and what you originally paid has no effect on what a buyer is willing to hand over.

A practical sequence: check the floor, check how many copies are listed near it, then decide whether you want the Robux this week or the higher price eventually. Undercutting the floor by a small amount, say 1% to 5%, is usually enough to move to the front of the line. Undercutting by half just donates value to whoever is watching the [Deals feed](/deals). Our guide on [why a Limited isn't selling](/articles/why-roblox-limited-not-selling) goes deeper on reading the reseller ladder.

None of this is financial advice. Limited prices move, a sale that looks certain today can sit for months, and you should never spend Robux you would miss.

## Can you turn Limited sales into real money? Not through DevEx

Robux from reselling items you did not create stays inside Roblox. The fee documentation is direct about it: Robux acquired from trading or selling items that you didn't create are not considered earned and are ineligible for the Developer Exchange program. Creators earn DevEx-eligible Robux from items they made themselves, and a reseller's 50% or 70% share falls outside that program.

So the realistic exit from a Limiteds portfolio is more Robux, which you can spend on other items, and any comparison you make between your gains and dollars is a mental exercise. Our [Robux to USD explainer](/articles/robux-to-usd-devex-rates) covers what DevEx does and does not cover.

## What if nobody buys your Limited?

Competition is the usual answer. Of the 2,946 classic Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog, 2,501 have at least one live resale listing, which is about 85% of them. Among 179,854 UGC Limiteds, 82,297 do, which is around 46%. On a well-known classic item you are joining a queue that already exists. The Perfectly Legitimate Business Hat in the table above has 648,594 copies out there, and plenty of their owners want out too.

Three things you can do when a copy stalls:

- **Move your ask to the floor** and accept the smaller number. A sale at 1,050 R$ beats a listing at 1,500 R$ that never fills.
- **Trade instead of selling,** if the item is a classic Limited. Roblox's documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable, so this route is closed for anything a community creator made. The [reselling vs trading comparison](/articles/reselling-vs-trading-roblox-limiteds) covers which pays better.
- **Check the item's demand before you blame the price.** The [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) and [community favorites](/community-favorites) show which items people are actually chasing, and browsing a collection like [Limiteds under 1,000 Robux](/collections/limiteds-under-1000) or [the most expensive Limiteds](/collections/most-expensive-limiteds) shows where the active price bands are.

Fee splits, holding periods, resale eligibility and the tradeable-item rule in this article come from Roblox's [marketplace fees and commissions documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions), and every price, RAP, copy count and catalog statistic comes from the RBX Invest catalog as of September 18, 2026.

## FAQ

### Do you need Roblox Plus to sell a Roblox Limited?

Yes. Listing a Limited for resale requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account, at $4.99 per month. The buyer needs no subscription, so anyone can purchase your copy once it is listed.

### How much does Roblox take when you sell a Limited?

Roblox takes 30% of a classic Limited resale, leaving the seller 70%. On a UGC Limited resale the seller keeps 50%, with 10% going to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox.

### How long after buying a Limited can you resell it?

Up to 30 days if you bought it from the creator at launch, up to 7 days if you bought it from another player on the resale market, and 2 days if you received a classic Limited in a trade. Roblox calls this a holding period, and the copy cannot be resold until it ends.

### What price should you list a Roblox Limited at?

List at or just under the item's current lowest ask, which is the cheapest copy anyone else is selling. Catalog data from September 2026 shows 66.5% of classic Limited listings and 73.9% of UGC Limited listings sit above the item's RAP, and those are the copies that tend to sit unsold.

### Can you sell a UGC Limited for real money?

No. Robux from selling items you did not create is not treated as earned Robux and is ineligible for the Developer Exchange program, per Roblox's fee documentation. The proceeds stay as Robux inside your account.

### Can you trade a UGC Limited instead of selling it?

No. Roblox's documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable, so UGC Limiteds change hands through Marketplace resales alone. Classic Limiteds can go either route.

### Why do so many Limiteds sit listed above their RAP?

Because most sellers price from what they paid for the copy. The 50% share on UGC resales means a seller needs a double to break even, which is why the median UGC floor sits at 2.40x RAP while the median classic floor sits at 1.09x RAP.

### Does the original creator get paid when you resell their item?

Yes, on UGC Limiteds. Roblox's fee documentation gives the original creator a 10% commission on every resale of their item, which comes out of the same sale price your 50% share is taken from.
