*Roblox inventory privacy explained: keep your inventory public to trade, since hiding your Limiteds can switch off trades and portfolio sync.*

Roblox gives you one switch that decides who can see the items you own, and if you trade Limiteds you should leave it on a public setting. A Limited is a Roblox avatar item with a fixed number of copies that players resell and trade to each other. The switch sits in Settings, under Privacy & content restrictions, then Trading & inventory, where Inventory visibility runs from Everyone at one end to No one at the other. Roblox's support article on inventory visibility says hiding your inventory will not affect your ability to use the Trading System. Bug reports filed on the Roblox developer forum in March 2026 say the two settings are linked and that a hidden inventory switches trading off. That disagreement is still unresolved, so a visible inventory is the setting that reliably keeps trades, offers and portfolio tracking working.

**Quick answer:** Keep your Roblox inventory public if you trade or resell Limiteds. The setting lives at Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Trading & inventory > Inventory visibility, and the options run from Everyone down to No one. Going private hides the item list on your profile, and it leaves any copy you have listed for sale fully visible, because every live resale listing names the account selling it.

| Inventory visibility at a glance | |
| --- | --- |
| Where to find it | Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Trading & inventory > Inventory visibility |
| The options | Everyone at one end, No one at the other, with friend and follower tiers in between |
| What it hides | The list of items on your profile and inventory page |
| What stays visible | Any copy you have listed for sale, which shows the selling account |
| Roblox's stated effect on trading | Hiding your inventory "will not affect your ability to use the Trading System" |
| What traders report | Trading and inventory visibility are linked, and No one blocks trades |
| Effect on RBX Invest | Portfolio sync and Players Leaderboard ranking both read a public inventory |

## Where is the Roblox inventory privacy setting? In Settings, under Trading & inventory

Open Settings from the gear icon on your profile, choose **Privacy & content restrictions**, then **Trading & inventory**. Inventory visibility is the control you want, and the Trading control sits directly beside it. Roblox's help page, [How to View or Hide Your Inventory in a Browser](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000463726-How-to-View-or-Hide-Your-Inventory-in-a-Browser), documents this path and states that picking "No one" hides your inventory from all other users.

The two ends of the scale are easy. Everyone means any visitor can open your inventory page and page through your items. No one means nobody can. The middle options are friend and follower tiers, and their wording has moved around: Roblox renamed Friends to Connections during its 2025 safety updates, then [announced on April 2, 2026](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/friends-are-back-expanding-trusted-friends-for-a-new-way-to-chat-and-play/4554217) that Connections would change back to Friends the following week. Expect to see either label depending on what has rolled out to your account.

One thing worth knowing before you touch it: the setting is account-wide and covers everything in your inventory at once. A January 2026 developer forum [feature request](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/ability-to-private-selected-categories-from-public-inventories/4318839) asked Roblox to let people hide individual inventory categories while keeping the rest public, and it has no staff reply. You cannot hide your [Dominus](/collections/dominus) hats and leave the rest of your collection on display.

## Does hiding your Roblox inventory stop you from trading? Roblox says no, traders say yes

Roblox's help page is unambiguous. It says hiding your inventory will not affect your ability to use the Trading System, which reads as permission to keep a private collection and trade normally.

Traders who tried it report something different. Two bug reports filed on March 22, 2026 flag the help pages as out of date. The report on [the inventory visibility article](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/outdated-instructions-in-how-to-view-or-hide-your-inventory-in-a-browser-for-managing-inventory-visibility-%F0%9F%A4%AE%F0%9F%99%8F%F0%9F%8F%BB/4529843) states that trading and inventory visibility are linked and that hiding your inventory leaves you unable to trade. The companion report on [the trading article](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/incorrect-trading-requirement-listed-in-trading-system-help-article-%F0%9F%AB%83%F0%9F%8F%BB%F0%9F%A4%AE/4529880) says both players need trading switched on and their inventories visible to each other for a trade to go through.

The mechanic traders describe is a floor. Your inventory visibility has to be at least as open as your Trading setting, so widening who can trade with you drags inventory visibility up to match, and narrowing inventory visibility back down gets reverted. Neither report carries a Roblox staff answer, and we have not seen Roblox document the linkage anywhere, so it stands as strongly reported behavior that Roblox has yet to confirm.

What that means in practice is simple. If your trades are vanishing or the Trade button has gone missing, check inventory visibility before you check anything else. Three other requirements sit alongside it: both accounts need an active Roblox Plus subscription, only classic Limiteds, the ones Roblox created itself, can be traded at all, and trading is currently restricted for accounts based in South Korea. Our [trading requirements guide](/articles/why-cant-i-trade-on-roblox) walks through each one.

## What does a private Roblox inventory hide? The item list on your profile

A hidden inventory removes one specific thing: the browsable list of what you own. People can no longer open your inventory page, count your copies, or scroll your Limiteds to work out what you might part with.

### Every copy you list for sale still names you

Resale listings live on the item's own page, and they carry the selling account with them. Across the 24 hours to October 5, 2026, RBX Invest catalog data captured resale ladders, meaning the stacked list of every copy currently for sale with its price, for 8,039 Limiteds holding 143,755 live listings between them, and those listings traced back to 32,476 distinct seller accounts. Each entry pairs a price with the account offering it.

So the moment you list a copy, you have published that you own that copy, whatever your inventory setting says. Serial numbers make it stick: a serial number is the permanent stamp on an individual copy, so a copy that passes through the public resale list once stays identifiable afterwards. Anyone building a picture of your holdings from the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) and item pages can do most of the work from listings alone.

### RAP belongs to the item, so it stays public

RAP, or Recent Average Price, is Roblox's smoothed average of what a Limited has recently sold for, and it is a property of the item itself. Every item page shows its RAP publicly, so hiding your inventory hides how many copies you hold while the prices attached to them stay on display. The [RAP explainer](/articles/what-is-rap-roblox) covers how each sale nudges the figure.

## What does going private cost you as a trader? Offers, rank and portfolio tracking

Trading runs on other people being able to see what you have. Most offers you receive start with someone browsing your inventory, spotting an item they want, and building a trade around it. Shut the door and those offers stop arriving. That matters most if you hold mid-tier items that move through steady trade volume.

Two RBX Invest features read your public inventory as well. The [Players Leaderboard](/players-leaderboard) ranks accounts with a connected, public Roblox profile by portfolio value, items owned and average growth, so a hidden inventory keeps you off it. Portfolio tracking connects through Roblox's official OAuth sign-in, where you authorize on roblox.com itself and we never see your password, then reads your public inventory to build your holdings, which the [portfolio tracking guide](/articles/track-your-roblox-portfolio) explains step by step.

Put round numbers on the trade-off. Say you hold 40 copies across 12 Limiteds, and your portfolio marks at 600,000 R$. Flipping Inventory visibility to No one changes none of that value. What it changes is who can act on it: you stop appearing in other traders' searches, your rank disappears, and your own dashboard has nothing fresh to sync. The items are untouched and the market for them carries on without you in view.

## When is a private Roblox inventory the right call? Three situations

There are real reasons to go private, and they have little to do with security.

**You have stopped trading.** If you collect and never deal, visibility buys you nothing and costs you unsolicited offers. Private is a reasonable default for a closed collection.

**You just made a large, visible buy.** Picking up a scarce, high-value Limited, the kind this site calls a gem, puts a target on an account. Dropping visibility for a while cuts down how often you get noticed, and you can raise it again when you want offers.

**You share your screen.** Streamers and video makers who show their inventory on camera are handing over a shopping list to anyone watching.

Privacy lowers your profile, and that is the whole of what it does. Real protection comes from 2-Step Verification, a strong unique password and care with links, which our [account security guide](/articles/roblox-account-security-protect-limiteds) covers properly. Scammers work by getting you to act outside the official Trade window, and a private inventory does nothing to stop that approach, as the [trading scams guide](/articles/roblox-trading-scams-how-to-avoid-them) sets out.

## How do you change inventory visibility without breaking your trades?

1. Open Settings from the gear icon, then **Privacy & content restrictions**, then **Trading & inventory**.
2. Set **Inventory visibility** to the audience you want.
3. Check the **Trading** setting right next to it and confirm it has not shifted. Per the reported linkage, a narrower inventory setting can drag your trading audience down with it.
4. Sign out, open your own profile in a browser where you are not signed in, and look at your inventory page. That tells you what a stranger sees.
5. If you track holdings here, re-sync afterwards so your portfolio matches what the site can actually read.

Scope matters for what you are protecting. RBX Invest tracks 3,027 classic Limiteds and 197,952 UGC Limiteds as of October 5, 2026, where a UGC Limited is a community-created item sold in a capped run. UGC Limiteds cannot be traded at all and change hands only through Marketplace resales, so on that side of a collection inventory visibility governs who can browse your holdings while your ability to sell stays the same. You can see the shape of both markets through the [collections hub](/collections).

None of this is financial advice. Items you can see are easier to sell than items nobody knows you own, and every trader weighs that against how much attention they want.

## FAQ

### Should your Roblox inventory be public or private?
Public, if you trade or resell Limiteds. Visible inventories attract trade offers, keep you eligible for the RBX Invest Players Leaderboard, and let portfolio tracking read your holdings. Private makes sense for a closed collection you have no plans to deal from.

### How do you hide your Roblox inventory?
Open Settings from the gear icon on your profile, choose Privacy & content restrictions, then Trading & inventory, then set Inventory visibility to No one. Roblox's support page states that No one hides your inventory from all other users.

### Does hiding your inventory stop you from trading on Roblox?
Roblox's support page says it will not affect your ability to use the Trading System. Developer forum bug reports from March 2026 say the two settings are linked and that a hidden inventory leaves you unable to trade. Roblox has not answered those reports, so check inventory visibility first if your trades stop working.

### Can people still see Limiteds you have listed for sale?
Yes. Resale listings appear on the item's own page with the selling account attached, whatever your inventory setting is. In the 24 hours to October 5, 2026, RBX Invest tracked 143,755 live listings across 8,039 Limiteds, each one naming its seller.

### Does a private inventory hide your RAP?
No. RAP, Roblox's smoothed average of an item's recent sale prices, belongs to the item and shows publicly on every item page. A private inventory hides how many copies you hold, and the prices attached to those copies stay public.

### Why is your RBX Invest portfolio empty after you connect your account?
Inventory visibility is the first thing to check. The connection authorizes on roblox.com itself and reads your public inventory, so a hidden inventory gives the sync nothing to read. Raise visibility, then re-sync from your portfolio page.

### Can you hide only some of your Roblox Limiteds?
No. Inventory visibility applies to your whole inventory at once. A developer forum feature request from January 2026 asked Roblox for per-category privacy, and it has no staff reply, so the setting stays all or nothing for now.

### Does inventory visibility matter for UGC Limiteds?
It governs who can browse them. UGC Limiteds are community-created items sold in capped runs, and they cannot be traded player to player at all, so they change hands only through Marketplace resales, where the listing itself is public.
