*Roblox Limited serial numbers mark your copy's place in the item's original sale order. Only Limited Unique items and UGC Limiteds carry one.*

A Roblox Limited's serial number is the number stamped on your specific copy, recording where that copy landed in the item's original sale order. Copy #1 was the first one sold, copy #500 was the five hundredth. Two kinds of items carry serials: classic Limited Unique items, meaning the fixed-quantity items Roblox made itself, and UGC Limiteds, the community-made Limiteds that launched in April 2023. A Limited is a Marketplace item with a finite number of copies, which owners can resell for Robux (R$) once a holding period ends. Serials have no effect on RAP and no effect on the price Roblox shows on an item page, because resale listings compete on price alone.

**Quick answer:** A serial number is your copy's place in the original sale order. Limited Unique items and UGC Limiteds have one; plain classic Limiteds such as the Valkyrie Helm were never serialized at all. Collectors sometimes pay extra for a #1 in a private deal, and Roblox's own pricing ignores serials completely.

## What is a serial number on a Roblox Limited? Your copy's place in the sale order

When Roblox releases a Limited Unique item, it mints a set number of copies and hands them out in the order people buy them. The first buyer gets #1. The hundredth buyer gets #100. Nobody picks their own number, and you cannot change it later. A low serial is the receipt for having been fast, or for having been in the right place on release day.

Copies, in trader shorthand, means the total number of that item ever minted. A 100-copy item has 100 serials and never gains another, which is why serial counts and copy counts are the same number on any sold-out Limited Unique.

Serial numbers have been part of Roblox collecting culture for years, and the Roblox Wiki's [Limited item page](https://roblox.fandom.com/wiki/Limited_item) documents the community's long-running appetite for specific numbers like #1, #42 and #1337. That appetite is real, and it lives entirely in private negotiation. Nothing in Roblox's pricing machinery knows or cares what number your copy wears.

## Which Roblox Limiteds have serial numbers? Limited Unique items and every UGC Limited

Roblox uses two labels on classic items, and only one of them produces serials.

A **Limited Unique** item ships with a fixed stock that Roblox sets before release. Once that stock sells out, the only way to get one is from another player. Every copy is numbered. A plain **Limited** item took a different path. It sat on sale as a regular catalog item, often for years, until Roblox pulled it offsale, meaning no new copies are sold, and flipped the label. The copy count is whatever happened to sell, and no serials were ever assigned. Our guide to [Limited versus Limited U items](/articles/limited-vs-limited-u-roblox) walks through the rest of the differences.

UGC Limiteds follow the Limited Unique model. Roblox's [April 5, 2023 announcement](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/announcing-limiteds-for-the-ugc-program-marketplace/2274426) introducing Limiteds for the UGC program says these items are "labeled as Limited items with unique serial numbers," and that creators set the quantity themselves. So every UGC Limited you buy has a number, including the free ones handed out in experiences.

These six serialized classic Limiteds come from RBX Invest catalog data, ordered by trader consensus on what they actually fetch, with RAP alongside for comparison. RAP is the Recent Average Price, a smoothed average Roblox updates after every sale. The lowest ask is the cheapest copy currently listed for resale.

### Green Sparkle Time Fedora: 101 serials and a 23.5M ask

![Green Sparkle Time Fedora](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/100929604?size=420)

Roblox sold the Green Sparkle Time Fedora in December 2012 at 10,000 R$ with 101 copies, which means 101 serial numbers exist and never more. Its RAP sits at 6,384,970 R$ while the cheapest listed copy asks 23,500,000 R$. That gap is the signature of a thin market: with 101 copies, months can pass between sales, so RAP lags badly behind what a seller will accept today. Our explainer on [asks above RAP](/articles/roblox-limited-price-higher-than-rap) covers why that happens. The rest of the family lives in [the Sparkle Time collection](/collections/sparkle-time).

## Which Roblox Limiteds have no serial numbers? The plain Limited label

The surprise for most collectors is that Roblox's most famous items carry no serials at all. Every item below is labeled Limited, confirmed against Roblox's own item data, and none of them was ever numbered. Ordered by trader consensus again, with RAP alongside.

| Item | Copies | RAP | Lowest ask | Released |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1031429?size=150) [Domino Crown](/item/1031429) | 25 | 5,726,071 R$ | 68.7B R$ (placeholder) | Jun 2007 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/24112667?size=150) [Telamon's Chicken Suit](/item/24112667) | 2,645 | 493,814 R$ | 546,995 R$ | Mar 2010 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1365767?size=150) [Valkyrie Helm](/item/1365767) | 12,523 | 254,169 R$ | 250,000 R$ | Jan 2008 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/19027209?size=150) [Perfectly Legitimate Business Hat](/item/19027209) | 648,594 | 4,342 R$ | 4,300 R$ | Dec 2009 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/20573078?size=150) [Shaggy](/item/20573078) | 2,071,903 | 1,429 R$ | 1,480 R$ | Jan 2010 |

Those last two show what the plain Limited label does to supply. Shaggy sat on sale long enough to mint 2,071,903 copies before going offsale, so its cheapest listed copy asks 1,480 R$ today. The Domino Crown stopped at 25 copies, and it sits among the most valuable classic hats in the game.

### Domino Crown: 25 copies, zero serials

![Domino Crown](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/1031429?size=420)

The 2007 Domino Crown shows what actually sets a classic Limited's price. It has 25 copies, no serial numbers, and trades far above its 5,726,071 R$ RAP in trader valuations, because copies that rare barely ever sell and RAP only moves when one does. The single copy listed for resale right now carries a joke price in the tens of billions of Robux, a habit we cover in [Limiteds listed for billions](/articles/roblox-limiteds-listed-for-billions). Scarcity, demand and history set this item's price. The absence of a serial changes nothing.

## Do low serial numbers raise a Roblox Limited's price? Not on the item page

On the resale market, no. Roblox lists every copy of an item for sale in one ladder sorted by price, cheapest first, and buyers work down from the top. A #1 copy priced at 50,000 R$ sits below a #4,000 copy priced at 49,999 R$, and the cheaper one sells first. Resellers chasing the front of that queue discover this quickly, which is why our [reseller terminal](/resell) tracks price position for each copy.

RAP ignores serials too. The formula is straightforward:

```
New RAP = Old RAP + (Sale Price - Old RAP) / 10
```

Every sale nudges RAP a tenth of the way toward the new price, whatever number was on the copy that sold. [Our full RAP explainer](/articles/what-is-rap-roblox) covers the quirks that follow from that smoothing.

Where serials do matter is in direct deals between collectors. A trader holding #1 of a famous item can ask for a premium in a private trade, and some buyers pay it, especially for #1, for numbers that match a meme, or for a serial that matches the owner's username or birth year. Those premiums are a community custom, and they stay invisible in sale data because Roblox publishes prices with no serials attached. Treat any serial premium as something you negotiate, with a hard ceiling you set before you start.

None of this is financial advice, and Limited prices can fall as fast as they rise.

## Where can you see a Roblox Limited's serial number?

Three places. Your inventory shows the serial on the copy you own. The item's page on Roblox lists the copies currently for sale with their serial numbers, so you can see which numbers are on the market. For classic items that Roblox wrapped into a bundle, such as faces and bodies, the serial shows on the bundle page.

A detail that trips people up: owning three copies of one item means holding three separate serials, and selling one does not touch the others. Our guide on [selling multiple copies](/articles/how-to-sell-multiple-copies-roblox-limited) explains how Roblox queues them.

## Does a serial number survive a trade or resale? Yes, it stays with the copy

The serial belongs to the copy, so it travels with the item through every trade and every resale, forever. Nothing resets it and nothing renumbers it.

Serials also have no effect on the rules around a copy. A holding period, meaning the waiting time before you may resell something you just received, runs the same length on #1 as on #9,000: two days after a trade and seven days after a resale purchase for classic Limiteds, and up to 30 days for a UGC Limited bought from its creator at launch. Our [holding period guide](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods) has the full table.

Fees behave the same way. Roblox takes a 30% cut when a classic Limited resells, and on a UGC Limited resale the reseller receives 50% of the sale price while the creator takes 10%, the seller or affiliate 10%, and Roblox 30%, per [Roblox's marketplace fees documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions). Serial #1 pays exactly what serial #5,000 pays.

One historical note worth knowing: when Roblox replaced the classic 2D face Limiteds with animated versions in early 2026, serial numbers carried across to the new copies untouched. Values moved a lot during that migration, which we covered in [the decline in face Limited values](/articles/roblox-limited-faces-value-decline).

## How should you treat serials when buying a Roblox Limited?

Price the item first, then decide whether a number is worth anything extra to you. The things that actually move a Limited's price are copy count, live demand, how many copies sit on the resale ladder, and whether the item belongs to a family people collect. You can sort all of that on the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) and in [the most expensive Limiteds collection](/collections/most-expensive-limiteds), and watch for underpriced listings in the [Deals feed](/deals), which needs a signed-in account.

Two practical habits. If you want a particular serial, buy the cheapest listed copy and keep hunting for the number separately. A premium you pay today may not survive to the next buyer. And if you already hold a #1, list it at the going rate when you want it sold, since a buyer scrolling a price-sorted ladder will not pay more for a number they have to click into the listing to see.

Data in this article comes from RBX Invest catalog data as of October 2026, Roblox's own item details for each asset, Roblox's marketplace fees and commissions documentation, Roblox's April 5, 2023 UGC Limiteds announcement, and the community-maintained Roblox Wiki for collecting history.

## FAQ

### What is a serial number on a Roblox Limited?

It is the number assigned to your individual copy when it was bought, marking its place in the item's original sale order. Copy #1 was the first sold. Serials are permanent and cannot be changed or chosen.

### Do all Roblox Limiteds have serial numbers?

No. Only classic Limited Unique items and UGC Limiteds carry serials. Plain Limited items, which sat on sale as normal catalog items before Roblox took them offsale, were never numbered. The Valkyrie Helm and the Domino Crown both fall in that unnumbered group.

### Do low serial numbers make a Roblox Limited worth more?

On Roblox's resale market, no. Copies for sale are sorted by price and the cheapest sells first regardless of serial. Some collectors pay a premium for a #1 or a meaningful number in a private trade, which is a community custom with no platform mechanic behind it.

### Does a serial number affect RAP?

No. RAP updates from sale prices using the formula New RAP = Old RAP + (Sale Price - Old RAP) / 10, and the serial of the copy that sold never enters the calculation.

### Do UGC Limiteds have serial numbers?

Yes. Roblox's April 2023 announcement of Limiteds for the UGC program states that these items are labeled with unique serial numbers, and that includes free UGC Limiteds given away in experiences.

### Where do I find my Limited's serial number?

Check the copy in your inventory, which displays its serial. The item's Roblox page also shows the serials of copies currently listed for resale, and for classic items wrapped in a bundle, such as faces, the serial appears on the bundle page.

### Does the serial number change if I trade or resell the item?

No. The serial is attached to that copy and moves with it through every trade and resale. Holding periods and marketplace fees are identical on every serial, so #1 pays the same 30% cut on a classic Limited resale as any other copy.

### Can I buy a specific serial number on Roblox?

Only if a copy with that number happens to be listed for resale, or if you negotiate privately with the owner. Roblox gives no way to search the market by serial or to request a number when you buy.
