*Roblox released 266 Limiteds in 2012 with 42,296,838 R$ of combined RAP, led by the Green Sparkle Time Fedora at 6,384,970 R$ on 101 copies.*

Roblox released 266 Limiteds in 2012, and together they carry 42,296,838 Robux of combined RAP today. A Limited is an item Roblox stopped selling once a fixed number of copies had gone out, which is what lets owners resell and trade those copies afterwards. RAP, short for recent average price, is Roblox's smoothed running average of an item's whole sale history. The year's highest RAP belongs to the [Green Sparkle Time Fedora](/item/100929604), which went on sale 18 December 2012 at 10,000 Robux with 101 copies and now sits at 6,384,970 R$.

**Quick answer:** Roblox's 2012 Limiteds number 266 items holding 42,296,838 Robux of combined RAP, the fourth-highest total of any release year. 2012 released 110 fewer items than 2011 but produced 22 items with 10 copies or fewer, against just one in 2011, making it the densest year for genuinely tiny print runs.

## What were Roblox's 2012 Limiteds? 266 items, every one made by Roblox

Every 2012 Limited lists Roblox as its creator. Community-made Limiteds didn't arrive until April 2023, so the whole year is what traders call classic Limiteds, and Roblox's marketplace documentation still states that [only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions). Any 2012 hat you buy today can go into a player-to-player trade.

The year spreads wide. 132 of the 266 sit below a 10,000 R$ RAP and 60 sit below 2,000 R$, so half the year lands in cheap territory that most collectors never look at. Nine items cleared a million.

Print runs stayed large on average. The median 2012 Limited minted 964 copies and 102 items went out with 1,000 copies or more. The interesting part is the other tail: 39 items have 100 copies or fewer and 22 have 10 or fewer. You can browse the era on the [classic hats collection](/collections/classic-hats), and the scarce end on the [under 100 copies collection](/collections/limiteds-under-100-copies).

Forty-two items went out at 0 Robux as prizes and giveaways, up from 17 free items in 2011. Two of them rank among the year's most valuable: the [Dominus Vespertilio](/item/96103379) at 595 copies and 1,920,229 R$ RAP, and [Dual Illumina](/item/101191388) at 451 copies and 745,521 R$.

## Did Roblox release fewer Limiteds in 2012? Yes, 110 fewer than in 2011

Here is every year Roblox released a meaningful number of Limiteds, by combined and median RAP.

| Release year | Limiteds | Combined RAP | Median RAP | Median copies |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2007 | 53 | 18,332,838 R$ | 14,175 R$ | 2,531 |
| 2008 | 46 | 4,833,394 R$ | 6,413 R$ | 4,843 |
| 2009 | 196 | 24,871,686 R$ | 7,981 R$ | 1,428 |
| 2010 | 342 | 55,453,273 R$ | 15,810 R$ | 918 |
| 2011 | 376 | 61,332,659 R$ | 10,548 R$ | 954 |
| 2012 | 266 | 42,296,838 R$ | 9,942 R$ | 964 |
| 2013 | 259 | 40,356,594 R$ | 5,422 R$ | 1,500 |
| 2014 | 233 | 40,006,555 R$ | 6,125 R$ | 1,501 |
| 2015 | 194 | 60,270,322 R$ | 12,006 R$ | 1,011 |
| 2016 | 181 | 30,408,947 R$ | 10,358 R$ | 1,500 |
| 2017 | 90 | 16,326,923 R$ | 2,247 R$ | 9,898 |
| 2018 | 106 | 7,092,376 R$ | 4,761 R$ | 2,403 |

2012 is where Roblox's output started shrinking. 2010 and 2011 each shipped well over 300 Limiteds, and 2012 came in at 266. Every year after it stayed below 270 too, which makes 2012 the turning point.

The typical 2012 item also lands slightly below the typical 2011 item: a 9,942 R$ median against 10,548 R$, on almost identical print runs. For a buyer that's useful. The middle of 2012 is cheap, and the money sits in a handful of items at the top.

If you want the two years either side, we've covered [the Limiteds of 2011](/articles/roblox-limiteds-of-2011) and [the Limiteds of 2010](/articles/roblox-limiteds-of-2010) in the same format.

## Which 2012 Roblox Limiteds are worth the most?

This table is ordered by trader consensus value, the price experienced traders would actually expect to pay, because on thin markets RAP falls behind badly. Lowest ask means the cheapest price a copy is listed at right now.

Some of those asks are placeholders. A holder who has no intention of selling can still keep a copy listed at a silly number, and the 618,033,988 R$ on the Lord of the Federation is that kind of listing. Treat an ask hundreds of times above RAP as a sign nobody is selling.

The two Sparkle Time recolors are the year's headline act. Both launched at 10,000 Robux, both minted about 100 copies, and both now trade in the millions. The family's full story is in our [Sparkle Time series history](/articles/sparkle-time-series-history-roblox), and the live rankings sit on the [Sparkle Time collection](/collections/sparkle-time) and the wider [fedora collection](/collections/fedoras).

## Green Sparkle Time Fedora: the year's highest RAP on 101 copies

![Green Sparkle Time Fedora](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/100929604?size=420)

Roblox put the Green Sparkle Time Fedora on sale on 18 December 2012 at 10,000 Robux and capped it at 101 copies. Anyone who bought one and held it is sitting on a RAP of 6,384,970 R$, about 638 times the launch price.

The math on why it holds up is simple. 101 copies spread across fourteen years of account bans, quits and long-term collectors leaves very few people willing to sell, and the Sparkle Time name carries more recognition than almost any other classic line. The cheapest listed copy right now is 27,000,000 R$, which tells you the holders are pricing well above the last recorded sales.

Its February sibling, the [Red Sparkle Time Fedora](/item/72082328), minted two fewer copies at 99 and carries a lower RAP at 4,871,499 R$. Traders rank the red above the green on consensus value anyway, which is worth knowing before you read either RAP as a ranking.

## Lord of the Federation: 10 copies and the year's widest RAP gap

![Lord of the Federation](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/88885069?size=420)

The Lord of the Federation went on sale 3 August 2012 at 250,000 Robux, a brutal price for the era, and only 10 copies exist. Its RAP reads 1,277,922 R$, which puts it eighth among 2012 Limiteds. On trader consensus it ranks first for the whole year.

That gap comes from how RAP is built. The formula moves an item's RAP one tenth of the way toward each new sale price, so an item that sells once every few years barely moves at all. Ten copies held by ten collectors produce almost no sales, so the RAP you see is an old number wearing a current date. Our [RAP explainer](/articles/what-is-rap-roblox) walks through the formula with worked numbers, and the [Federation series history](/articles/federation-series-history-roblox) covers the rest of the line.

This is the single most useful habit to take from 2012: on any item under about 50 copies, check the copy count before you trust the RAP.

## The ROBLOX Tablet series: 20 one-copy items in three weeks

![brayden99's ROBLOX Tablet](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/99033296?size=420)

Twenty of the 22 items from 2012 with 10 copies or fewer belong to one promotion. Between 14 November and 4 December 2012, Roblox dropped a single Gear item into the catalog over and over at rising prices, renaming each one after whoever bought it first. Every tablet has a supply of exactly one copy.

So 2012's scarcity record carries an asterisk. Strip the tablets out and the year has two items under 10 copies, which is a normal number. The tablets are genuinely unique items with real prices attached, and [brayden99's ROBLOX Tablet](/item/99033296) carries the third-highest RAP of the year at 4,000,000 R$ on a 300,000 R$ launch price. Eight of the twenty have never resold at all. Our [ROBLOX Tablet series history](/articles/roblox-tablet-series-history-roblox) has the full ladder, and the [rarest Limiteds collection](/collections/rarest-limiteds) tracks every one-copy item live.

## Which 2012 Roblox Limiteds gained the most on launch price?

![Dark Assassin](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/73791866?size=420)

The year's best multiple belongs to an item almost nobody talks about. The Dark Assassin launched 2 March 2012 at 12 Robux with 16 copies and now carries a RAP of 81,699 R$, roughly 6,808 times what it cost.

| Item | Copies | Launch price | RAP now | Multiple on launch |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/73791866?size=150) [Dark Assassin](/item/73791866) | 16 | 12 R$ | 81,699 R$ | ~6,808x |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/88777059?size=150) [Stone Samurai](/item/88777059) | 110 | 175 R$ | 182,949 R$ | ~1,045x |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/71499731?size=150) [Wanderer Vampire Slayer](/item/71499731) | 943 | 20 R$ | 20,371 R$ | ~1,019x |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/71499623?size=150) [Dark Horns of Pwnage](/item/71499623) | 395 | 1,000 R$ | 962,856 R$ | ~963x |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/100425940?size=150) [Tough Guy Cap](/item/100425940) | 25 | 1,500 R$ | 1,325,703 R$ | ~884x |

Cheap launch prices do most of the work in that column. A 12-Robux item only needs to reach 81,699 R$ to post a five-figure multiple, while the Green Sparkle Time Fedora's 638x came off a 10,000 R$ entry and represents far more Robux of actual gain. Both numbers are real, and they answer different questions.

The [Tough Guy Cap](/item/100425940) is the standout for a collector, because it pairs a big multiple with only 25 copies. We've written it up on its own in the [Tough Guy Cap history](/articles/tough-guy-cap-roblox-history). The [Dark Horns of Pwnage](/item/71499623) belongs to the horns family covered in our [Horns series history](/articles/horns-series-history-roblox), with live prices on the [horns collection](/collections/horns).

## Where does RAP disagree with traders in 2012?

Six 2012 items show a clear gap between where RAP ranks them and where traders rank them. Ranks below are within the 2012 cohort.

| Item | Copies | RAP | Rank on RAP | Rank on consensus |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/88885069?size=150) [Lord of the Federation](/item/88885069) | 10 | 1,277,922 R$ | 8 | 1 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/97078419?size=150) [Living Art: Starry Night](/item/97078419) | 9 | 350,000 R$ | 22 | 8 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/94794774?size=150) [Crescendo, The Soul Stealer](/item/94794774) | 71 | 521,495 R$ | 17 | 9 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/97852103?size=150) [Peach Thug Shades](/item/97852103) | 50 | 360,950 R$ | 20 | 12 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/98346834?size=150) [Bluesteel Fedora](/item/98346834) | 150 | 883,436 R$ | 12 | 5 |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/100929604?size=150) [Green Sparkle Time Fedora](/item/100929604) | 101 | 6,384,970 R$ | 1 | 3 |

Every item that climbs on consensus has a small supply. [Living Art: Starry Night](/item/97078419) has 9 copies and a RAP of 350,000 R$, and the cheapest listed copy is 50,000,000 R$. That spread exists because the item has barely sold since 2012, so RAP never caught up with what holders think it's worth.

The Green Sparkle Time Fedora moves the other way, slipping from first on RAP to third on consensus. Items with enough copies to sell regularly keep their RAP honest, and the green fedora's 101 copies trade often enough that its RAP may actually be running slightly ahead of the market.

## Can you buy a 2012 Roblox Limited today? 246 of the 266 have sellers

246 of the year's 266 Limiteds have at least one copy listed for sale right now, so most of 2012 is reachable. The cheapest 2012 item on the market is listed at 170 R$, and 36 of them are listed under 1,000 R$. Seventy are listed below their own RAP.

Those below-RAP listings are where a 2012 buyer should start, and the live feed on our [Deals page](/deals) surfaces them as they appear. Signing in is required to use it. The [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) lets you filter the whole catalog by RAP and copy count if you'd rather screen the year yourself.

One caution on the cheap end. A 2012 item listed at 170 R$ is cheap because nobody wants it, and fourteen years of no demand is decent evidence that pattern holds. The 36 items under 1,000 R$ are fun to own and slow to sell.

## What should a collector take from 2012?

2012 is the year Roblox slowed down. Output fell to 266 items and never recovered, which makes everything released before it part of a finite pool that stopped growing.

Two practical points. First, the year's top end is concentrated in the two Sparkle Time fedoras and a short list of sub-100-copy items, and those are priced accordingly. Second, the middle of the year is genuinely cheap, with a 9,942 R$ median RAP, and the 70 items currently listed below RAP are the only part of 2012 where a normal budget does anything.

On the thin items, treat RAP as a floor and nothing more. The Lord of the Federation and Living Art: Starry Night both show what happens when an item's last sale is years old.

This is not financial advice. Limiteds are virtual items, old items can fall as easily as rise, and a 9-copy item can leave you unable to sell when you want to.

Release dates, launch prices, copy counts and lowest asks in this article were verified against Roblox's own catalog and economy records on 30 October 2026; RAP, median and cohort figures come from RBX Invest catalog data as of October 2026; and the tradeability rule comes from Roblox's marketplace documentation.

## FAQ

### How many Limiteds did Roblox release in 2012?

Roblox released 266 Limiteds in 2012, from 3 January to 21 December. That's 110 fewer than 2011's 376, and no year since has topped 270.

### What is the most valuable Roblox Limited from 2012?

The Green Sparkle Time Fedora holds the highest RAP of any 2012 Limited at 6,384,970 R$, on 101 copies and a 10,000 Robux launch price. On trader consensus value the Lord of the Federation ranks first for the year instead, because its 10-copy supply leaves its RAP badly out of date.

### Why does 2012 have so many items with 10 copies or fewer?

Because of one promotion. Twenty of the year's 22 items with 10 or fewer copies are ROBLOX Tablets, a series Roblox released between 14 November and 4 December 2012, one copy at a time, each renamed after its buyer. Without that series 2012 has just two items under 10 copies.

### Which 2012 Roblox Limited gained the most on its launch price?

The Dark Assassin. It launched on 2 March 2012 at 12 Robux with 16 copies and now carries a RAP of 81,699 R$, about 6,808 times its launch price. Its tiny entry price does most of the work in that multiple.

### Are 2012 Roblox Limiteds tradeable?

Yes. Everything released in 2012 is a classic Limited made by Roblox, and Roblox's marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable. Both accounts in a trade need an active Roblox Plus subscription, and a Classic Limited can't be traded again for two days after it changes hands.

### Can you buy a 2012 Roblox Limited cheaply?

Yes. 36 of the year's 266 Limiteds are listed under 1,000 Robux right now and the cheapest sits at 170 R$. Seventy 2012 items are currently listed below their own RAP, which is the better place to look if you want something that holds value.

### Which free 2012 Roblox Limiteds are worth the most?

The Dominus Vespertilio leads the year's 42 free releases with a RAP of 1,920,229 R$ across 595 copies, followed by Dual Illumina at 745,521 R$ on 451 copies and Living Art: Starry Night at 350,000 R$ on just 9 copies. All three went out at 0 Robux.

### Was 2012 a better year for Limiteds than 2011?

2011 wins on totals, with 376 items and 61,332,659 R$ of combined RAP against 2012's 266 items and 42,296,838 R$. 2012 produced more genuinely scarce items, with 39 under 100 copies against 2011's 16, so it depends whether you're counting value or rarity.
