*You can trade Roblox Limiteds without Roblox Plus only in the US, with 2 free trades a month for a limited time. Any trade past that needs Plus.*

You can trade Roblox Limiteds without Roblox Plus only if your account is based in the United States, and only twice a month. Roblox's [trading help page](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313310-Trading-on-Roblox) describes a limited-time promotion that gives US accounts up to 2 free trades each month, with the count resetting at the start of each month. Every trade past those two needs an active Roblox Plus subscription, which costs $4.99 a month. A Limited is an avatar item sold in a fixed number of copies that players buy, resell and, when Roblox made the item, swap with each other through the Trade system.

**Quick answer:** US accounts get up to 2 free trades a month for a limited time, and everyone else needs Roblox Plus for any trade at all. Both players also have to pass an age check, switch trading on in settings, and own a Roblox-made Limited to put on the table.

| Rule | What Roblox asks for |
| --- | --- |
| Free trades | Up to 2 a month, United States only, limited-time promotion, resets at the start of the month |
| Unlimited trades | Active Roblox Plus subscription, $4.99 a month |
| Age check | Required for everyone to send, accept or counter a trade, subscription or not |
| Account settings | Inventory visibility and trading switched on for both players |
| Region | Trading is unavailable for accounts in South Korea |
| Tradable items | Limited and Limited U items created by Roblox, plus Robux |
| Robux added to a trade | 30% fee, and the Robux can't exceed 50% of your offered items' value after that fee |

## Can you trade on Roblox without Roblox Plus? Yes, twice a month in the US

Roblox's help center now lists two ways to reach the trade window. The first is the subscription: Roblox Plus gives unlimited trades. The second is the promotion, which the help center words as "for a limited time, users in the United States can make 2 free trades each month".

Those free trades reset at the start of each month. Use both on the 3rd and you're waiting until the 1st for more. Roblox calls the offer limited-time on both its trading page and its [Roblox Plus page](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/47967913158164-Roblox-Plus), so plan around it ending one day.

Two points catch people out. The promotion is tied to accounts based in the United States, so a free trade on one side doesn't help if the other player is somewhere it doesn't apply and has no subscription. And the trade still has to clear every other requirement below, because free trades remove the subscription step alone.

## What do both accounts need before a trade can go through?

Roblox checks both sides of a trade, so one blocked account stops the whole thing. The requirements are:

- **An age check.** The help center says all users must complete one to send, accept and counter trades, and that it applies to everyone whether or not they subscribe. This is the newest hurdle and the one most likely to be behind a missing Trade button.
- **Trading and inventory visibility turned on.** Both live under Account Settings, then Privacy and content restrictions, then Trading and inventory. If your inventory is hidden, nobody can build an offer against it.
- **A supported region.** Trading is currently unavailable for users in South Korea.
- **A subscription or a free trade in hand.** Plus for unlimited, or one of the two US free trades.

Our longer walkthrough of [why trades get blocked](/articles/why-cant-i-trade-on-roblox) covers the error messages these produce. If you want the whole beginner path instead, start with [how to start trading Limiteds](/articles/how-to-start-trading-roblox-limiteds).

## Which items can you trade for free? Only the Limiteds Roblox made

Roblox's [Marketplace documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-fees-and-commissions) puts it in one line: "At this time, only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable." Those are the classic Limiteds, the hats, faces and gear Roblox published itself, plus Limited U items, which were sold in a fixed number of copies and carry a serial number so you know which copy you hold, like #45 of 100.

UGC Limiteds, the ones community creators publish, move only through Marketplace resales. You can buy them and sell them, and the Trade window will never show them. The gap between the two is bigger than most new traders expect: RBX Invest tracks 2,563 classic Limiteds against 189,549 UGC Limiteds as of October 2026, so the tradable slice is roughly one item in 75. Our [classic versus UGC Limiteds breakdown](/articles/classic-limiteds-vs-ugc-limiteds) explains why the two halves of the market behave so differently.

To check any single item, open its details page and look at the Tradable field. Yes means it can move in a trade. You can also browse what the tradable half of the market looks like on the [items leaderboard](/items-leaderboard) or in the [classic hats collection](/collections/classic-hats).

## What can you trade if you own nothing yet? Five classic Limiteds under 400 R$

A free trade is worth nothing without something to offer. The cheapest entry is buying a classic Limited from a reseller, which needs no subscription at all. RAP below is the recent average price, a smoothed average of an item's sale history, and the ask is the cheapest copy listed on Roblox when we pulled the data on 12 October 2026.

| Item | RAP | Copies | Cheapest ask |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/153563680?size=150) [Egg of the Hill](/item/153563680) | 481 R$ | 26,559 | 400 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/76692143?size=150) [Chaos Canyon Sugar Egg](/item/76692143) | 430 R$ | 35,034 | 397 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/76692407?size=150) [The Last Egg of 2012](/item/76692407) | 396 R$ | 451,675 | 380 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/332744533?size=150) [Super Happy Elf Hat](/item/332744533) | 355 R$ | 164,668 | 394 R$ |
| ![](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/175134660?size=150) [Rain Bophones](/item/175134660) | 340 R$ | 190,711 | 390 R$ |

All five are Roblox-made, so all five are tradable, and all five sit in the few-hundred-Robux band where a first mistake costs pocket change. Cheaper options exist in the [under 100 R$ collection](/collections/cheap-limiteds-under-100) and the wider [under 500 R$ collection](/collections/limiteds-under-500). Buying one of these makes you the buyer in a resale, and buyers need no subscription. Listing a Limited for sale yourself is the step that needs Roblox Plus.

## Are two free trades a month enough to grow an inventory? Barely

Twenty-four trades a year buys you practice. Traders who grow an inventory do it by stacking many small upgrades, and every round trip costs two slots if you later want to undo it. With two a month you're choosing one careful offer every two weeks, which is a reasonable way to learn and a slow way to compound.

The honest comparison is the subscription price against your own pace. At $4.99 a month, Roblox Plus pays for itself in convenience the moment you want a third trade, and it also unlocks reselling, which is how most people turn items back into Robux. Our [Roblox Plus verdict for traders](/articles/is-roblox-plus-worth-it) runs the numbers on the discount side too.

If you'd rather spend nothing, the free-trade route still works. Buy one cheap classic Limited, watch the [Deals feed](/deals) for copies listed under RAP, and spend your two monthly trades on offers you've actually thought about. Trading Limiteds carries real risk of losing Robux, and none of this is financial advice.

## What does a trade cost you once it's accepted?

Two numbers matter. If you add Robux to balance an offer, Roblox takes a 30% fee from that Robux, and the amount you add can't be more than 50% of the value of the items you're offering after the fee. The help center's own example: an item worth 300 Robux lets you add up to 150 Robux. We go deeper in [adding Robux to a trade](/articles/add-robux-to-roblox-trade).

The second is time. A classic Limited that arrives in a trade sits under a two-day holding period, a window where the item can't move again, before you can trade it onward. Resale purchases carry their own, longer hold, and we lay all of them out in the [holding periods guide](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods).

One warning the help center repeats, and it's worth repeating here: trades are final. Once an offer is accepted, it can't be reversed, refunded or disputed, and Roblox will not return items or Robux for any reason. Anything arranged outside the official Trade window, including deals for real money, sits outside that protection entirely. Our guide to [trading scams](/articles/roblox-trading-scams-how-to-avoid-them) covers the patterns that cost people items.

## How do you stop junk trade offers? Use the trade quality filter

Once you own something decent, offers arrive, and plenty are bad. Roblox's trade quality filter hides low-quality offers automatically. It sits under Account Settings, then Privacy and content restrictions, then Trading and inventory, with four levels: None lets everything through, while Low, Medium and High each raise the bar an offer has to clear before it reaches you.

Set it to Medium while you're learning. You'll see fewer offers, and the ones you do see are worth opening, which matters a lot when you only get two trades a month to spend.

Trading rules, free-trade terms, age-check and region requirements in this article come from Roblox's help center pages on trading and Roblox Plus, both current in October 2026; the tradability rule comes from Roblox's Marketplace documentation; item RAP, copy counts and asking prices come from RBX Invest catalog data as of 12 October 2026.

## FAQ

### Can you trade Roblox Limiteds without Roblox Plus?

Yes, if your account is based in the United States. Roblox's help center runs a limited-time promotion giving US accounts up to 2 free trades each month. Outside that promotion, every trade needs an active Roblox Plus subscription at $4.99 a month.

### How many free trades do you get and when do they reset?

Up to 2 each month, and they reset at the start of the month. Once you've used both, your options are waiting for the reset or subscribing to Roblox Plus for unlimited trades.

### Do both players need Roblox Plus to trade?

Both sides need to be allowed to trade, which means either an active Roblox Plus subscription or a free trade available under the US promotion. Both also need a completed age check and trading switched on in their settings, so one blocked account stops the trade.

### Can you trade UGC Limiteds on Roblox?

No. Roblox's Marketplace documentation states that only Roblox-created Limiteds are tradeable, so community-made UGC Limiteds change hands only through Marketplace resales. That leaves 2,563 classic Limiteds tradable against 189,549 UGC Limiteds in our catalog.

### Do you need Roblox Plus to buy a Limited from a reseller?

No. Buying a resale copy needs nothing but Robux, which is why buying is the easiest way into the market. Listing a Limited of your own for sale is the step that requires an active Roblox Plus subscription.

### Why is the Trade Items button missing from someone's profile?

Usually because one of the two accounts can't trade yet. The common causes are an incomplete age check, trading or inventory visibility switched off in privacy settings, an account based in South Korea where trading is unavailable, or no subscription and no free trades left this month.

### Can you add Robux to a trade without Roblox Plus?

Yes, on any trade you're allowed to send. The same rules apply either way: Roblox takes a 30% fee from the Robux included, and the Robux can't be more than 50% of the value of the items you're offering after that fee.

### How long before you can trade an item you just received?

A classic Limited received in a trade is held for two days before it can move again. Copies bought from a reseller carry a longer hold, so check the item's status before you plan a chain of trades around it.
