*A Roblox homestore is an experience a creator builds to sell their own Marketplace items, and buying there pays the creator about 70% instead of 30%.*

A Roblox homestore is an experience a creator builds to show off and sell their own Marketplace items. Roblox ships a homestore template inside Studio with mannequins that display avatar items and a shop button that opens the creator's catalog. Creators build them for one reason, and it is money. Roblox's marketplace documentation says a purchase made in the Marketplace pays the creator a 30% base commission, while a purchase made inside a game pays that 30% and hands the game owner another 40%. When the creator owns the game, both cuts land in the same account.

**Quick answer:** A homestore is a creator-run shop experience for selling their own avatar items. You pay the same price you would pay on the website, but the creator keeps roughly 70% of it instead of the 30% base rate. About two thirds of the UGC Limiteds we track are sold only inside experiences, so for a lot of items a game is the only place to buy at launch.

| Roblox homestores at a glance | |
| --- | --- |
| What it is | An experience built from Roblox's UGC Homestore template in Studio |
| Creator's cut, Marketplace purchase | 30% at the price floor, up to 70% above it |
| Creator's cut, in-experience purchase | 30% plus the 40% game-owner share |
| Does it cost the buyer more | No, the listed price is the same |
| Time you must spend in the game first | 60 seconds before a purchase completes |
| Copies one account can buy | 3 per person per item |

## What is a Roblox homestore? A creator's own shop, built as a game

A UGC Limited is an avatar item from an independent creator that sells in a fixed number of copies. Limited means the supply is capped, so once the copies are gone the only way to get one is from somebody who already owns it. UGC just means the item came from the community. Once a creator has a few of those items on sale, they need somewhere to put them in front of people, and Roblox's answer is the homestore template.

The template is listed in Studio's start screen. It comes with three parts, according to Roblox's marketplace documentation: mannequins, which are 3D dummies that wear an item so you can see it on a body before you spend anything; an integrated shop button at the bottom of the screen that opens the creator's catalog; and modular building pieces so the shop can be decorated. A creator can point the shop at somebody else's catalog too, so one shop can carry more than one creator's items.

You have almost certainly walked through one. They tend to be small, brightly lit rooms full of mannequins, often linked from a bigger game or from a creator's group page.

## Why do creators sell items inside a game? It pays about 70% instead of 30%

Roblox splits every avatar item sale between the creator, the platform, and, when the sale happens inside a game, the owner of that game. The marketplace documentation lays it out like this.

| Where the sale happens | Creator gets | Game owner gets | Roblox gets |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Marketplace (website or app shop) | 30% at the price floor | Nothing | 70% at the price floor |
| Inside a game | 30% | 40% | 30% |

Roblox calls that 40% the affiliate share, and it goes to whoever owns the experience where the purchase happened.

A creator selling their own item in their own homestore collects the creator's 30% and the game owner's 40%, so about 70% of the price stays with them. Sell the same item through the Marketplace page and the base rate is 30%.

There is one wrinkle worth knowing, because it decides which creators actually need a homestore. Marketplace sales use what Roblox calls progressive revenue share: the further an item is priced above the price floor for its category, which is the lowest price Roblox allows that type of item to be sold for, the bigger the creator's percentage, starting at 30% at the floor and topping out at 70% once the price hits six times the floor. That higher rate applies only to Marketplace purchases. In-game purchases always use the flat 30% plus the 40% affiliate share.

So a creator selling a cheap item near the price floor roughly doubles their take by selling it in a game. A creator selling an expensive item already near the 70% cap gains nothing from the split and builds a homestore for the foot traffic instead. Our breakdown of [how much UGC creators make on Roblox](/articles/how-much-do-ugc-creators-make-roblox) walks through those percentages in detail.

## Does buying in a homestore cost you more? No, you pay the same price

The price tag is the price tag. The split behind it changes, and none of the change comes out of your pocket.

If you subscribe to Roblox Plus, the 10% discount on eligible purchases for your first two months, rising to 20% from the third consecutive month, applies the same way in a homestore as it does on the website. Roblox funds that discount itself, so the creator still earns on the original price. It does not apply to items priced above 1,000,000 Robux.

One thing does change for you. If the creator restricted the item to experiences, the website will not sell you a copy out of the original stock, no matter how long you stare at the page. Resale copies put up by other players are separate and can be bought from anywhere.

## Why can't I find some UGC Limiteds in the Marketplace? Two thirds are experience-only

When a creator publishes an item, they pick a sale location. Roblox's documentation lists the default as "Marketplace and All Experiences", and the alternative as an experience-by-place-ID setting where the original stock can only be bought inside the games the creator names. Roblox's own item records carry that setting, and we store it for every item we track.

![Lucid’s Federation of Eternal Wealth](https://img.rbxinvest.com/item/15169870597?size=420)

[Lucid’s Federation of Eternal Wealth](/item/15169870597) is a clean example. Roblox's item record lists it as buyable in two named experiences and nowhere else. It launched free, 2,525 copies exist, and the cheapest resale listing today sits at 30,000 Robux. Nobody found that one by browsing the website.

Across the 195,008 community-made Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog as of September 27, 2026, here is where the original stock can be bought.

| Sale location | Items | Share |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Named experiences only | 133,384 | 68.4% |
| Marketplace and all experiences | 53,232 | 27.3% |
| Marketplace only | 4,070 | 2.1% |
| Marketplace plus named experiences | 2,348 | 1.2% |
| Not recorded | 1,974 | 1.0% |

Free giveaway items handed out in games dominate that pile. Of the experience-only Limiteds where we hold a launch price, 69,384 went out at 0 Robux against 4,117 with a price on them, the same pattern our guide to [free Roblox Limiteds](/articles/free-roblox-limiteds-guide) found. The quality gap is wide too. Only 4.7% of the experience-only items carry a RAP of 1,000 Robux or more, against 13.2% of the ones listed on the Marketplace. RAP is short for Recent Average Price, Roblox's smoothed running average of an item's sale prices, and it is the closest thing to a public price tag on an item that has stopped selling.

### Experience-only Limiteds worth knowing about

These five all carry the experience-only setting in Roblox's records, listed by release date. Copies and RAP come from our catalog; lowest ask is the cheapest copy a reseller currently has listed.

The Golden Bullhead is the extreme case. Three copies, a 1,500,000 Robux launch price, sold inside a single Lamborghini experience, and Roblox's item description says the purchase unlocked real-world Lamborghini rewards, including a trip to the company's headquarters in Italy. The single listing today asks 9,999,999,999 Robux, which is how an owner says they are keeping it. We covered that habit in [Roblox Limiteds listed for billions](/articles/roblox-limiteds-listed-for-billions). The Gucci bag belongs to the brand's longer Roblox run, which we traced in [Gucci's Roblox items](/articles/gucci-roblox-items-history).

## What are the rules for buying a Limited inside an experience?

Roblox throttles Limited purchases to keep bots from clearing the stock in one second. The marketplace documentation sets out four limits, and they apply to homestore drops:

- You must be in the game for 60 seconds before an in-experience purchase can complete.
- A maximum of 3 successful purchases per person per item.
- 9 successful purchases per minute per account across all items.
- One purchase request every 2 seconds per item per account.

The 60-second rule is the one that catches people. Joining the moment a drop goes live and mashing buy will not work, so regulars load into the homestore early and wait. Our guide to [Roblox UGC Limited purchase limits](/articles/roblox-ugc-limited-purchase-limits) covers the caps in more depth.

## What happens after you buy? Holding periods and resale math

Buying at a launch puts a clock on the item. Roblox's marketplace documentation says there is a holding period of up to 30 days after you buy a Limited, during which you cannot resell it. Buy a copy from another player's resale listing instead and the hold is shorter, up to 7 days. A holding period is simply a waiting time before Roblox will let you list the item again. The full picture is in our guide to [Roblox Limited holding periods](/articles/roblox-limited-holding-periods).

Two more rules shape what you can do with the item.

Reselling needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account. Buying a resale needs nothing. Roblox's documentation also notes that reselling community-made Limiteds is unavailable for accounts based in Japan.

UGC Limiteds cannot be traded. Roblox's player-to-player Trade system handles Roblox-made classic Limiteds only, so a community-made item changes hands through a Marketplace resale or not at all.

The resale split is where homestore flippers get caught out. On a community-made Limited resale, the documentation gives 50% to the reseller, 10% to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox. You keep half of whatever the buyer pays.

Work it with round numbers. You grab an item at 100 Robux in a homestore, wait out the 30 days, and sell it for 250 Robux. Half of 250 is 125, so you clear 25 Robux on a 100 Robux bet. Sell it for 200 and you break even exactly. Anything under double your cost loses money. Our [UGC Limiteds reselling guide](/articles/ugc-limiteds-reselling-guide) runs the same math across more scenarios.

None of this is financial advice. Two in five of the community-made Limiteds we track have never recorded a single resale, and Robux you put into one can be worth less next month.

## How do you check where an item sells before you buy?

Every item page on RBX Invest carries the live numbers you need: copies, RAP, and the current lowest reseller ask. If a Limited still has stock left from the creator, it will show up in [UGC Limiteds in stock](/collections/ugc-limiteds-in-stock), and if the creator's run is finished, [sold-out UGC Limiteds](/collections/sold-out-ugc-limiteds) is the resale-only pool. Both lists re-rank themselves as prices move.

To work out who is worth following into a homestore, the [creators leaderboard](/creators-leaderboard) ranks UGC creators by the market value of what they have published, and each creator page lists their catalog. Resellers tracking their own positions use the [reseller terminal](/resell), and below-RAP listings land in [Deals](/deals), which needs a signed-in account.

Figures in this article come from Roblox's [marketplace documentation](https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace), Roblox's own item records, and RBX Invest catalog data as of September 27, 2026.

## FAQ

### What is a Roblox homestore?

A Roblox homestore is an experience a creator builds to display and sell their own Marketplace avatar items. Roblox provides a homestore template in Studio with mannequins that model items, a shop button that opens the creator's catalog, and modular building pieces for the shopfront.

### Do you pay more for a UGC Limited in a homestore?

No. The price is the same as it would be anywhere else. What changes is the split: an in-experience purchase pays the game owner a 40% affiliate share on top of the creator's 30%, and Roblox's share drops from 70% to 30%.

### Why can't I find some UGC Limiteds in the Roblox Marketplace?

Because the creator set the item's sale location to specific experiences. Roblox lets creators restrict the original stock to named games, and 133,384 of the 195,008 community-made Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog, about 68%, carry that setting.

### How many copies of a UGC Limited can one account buy?

Three. Roblox's marketplace documentation caps successful purchases at 3 per user per item, alongside a limit of 9 successful purchases per minute and one purchase request every 2 seconds per item.

### Do you have to stay in the experience to buy an item?

Yes, at least briefly. Roblox requires that you be in the game for 60 seconds before an in-experience purchase completes, which is why regulars join a homestore a few minutes before a drop.

### Can you resell a UGC Limited you bought in a homestore?

Yes, once the holding period ends and if the creator enabled reselling. Roblox's documentation gives a holding period of up to 30 days after a launch purchase, and you need an active Roblox Plus subscription on the selling account. Reselling community-made Limiteds is unavailable for accounts based in Japan.

### How much do you keep when you resell a UGC Limited?

Half. The documented split on a community-made Limited resale is 50% to the reseller, 10% to the original creator, 10% to the seller or affiliate, and 30% to Roblox, so you need to sell at double your cost just to break even.

### Can UGC Limiteds be traded like classic Limiteds?

No. Roblox's Trade system covers Roblox-made classic Limiteds only. Community-made Limiteds move through Marketplace resales, which is why a homestore purchase and a resale listing are the only two ways to get one.
