What does the Market Cap page show?
Three figures sit above the chart: the market cap of the whole Limited market, the Classic half, and the UGC half. Each carries its change across whichever date range is selected. The chart below them plots the same three numbers day by day, with Classic and UGC stacked so the top edge of the shaded area is the market total.
A Growth view rebases both series to 100 at the start of the range, which is the honest way to compare them. Classic Limiteds are worth many times what UGC Limiteds are, so on a shared value axis the UGC line barely moves even in a year when it doubles. A Table button swaps the chart for the underlying numbers.
How is market cap calculated?
For a single item, market cap is its Recent Average Price multiplied by the number of copies that actually exist. The page adds that figure up across every tradable Limited with a price on record.
Copies that exist is not the same as the supply a creator announced. A creator who sets a run of 2,499 and closes the sale after 286 have sold has 286 copies in circulation, and only those 286 are counted. Items with a RAP of zero, which includes the free-claim Limiteds, contribute nothing and are left out of the item counts as well.
Where does the history come from?
Roblox publishes no market cap figure and no price history, so days from the start of the series in May 2021 up to the point RBX Invest began recording are replayed from the daily sales data Roblox itself publishes. RAP moves as an average of the recent sales of an item, and that movement can be applied one day at a time to rebuild the price an item carried on any past date.
The replay for each item is then pinned to the value that item is verifiably worth today, so the reconstruction cannot drift away from the real market. Days built this way are labelled Reconstructed in the table view and a marker on the chart shows where daily recording takes over. Treat the reconstructed stretch as a close estimate of the shape of the market rather than an exact ledger.
Why are Classic and UGC counted separately?
They behave like two different markets. The Classics are a closed set of roughly 2,500 items that Roblox stopped making, so their market cap moves only when prices move. UGC Limiteds are an open set that grows every day as creators release more, so their market cap rises both when prices rise and when the catalog gets bigger. The item counts in the tooltip separate those two causes.
