Dominus vs Sparkle Time Fedora: Which Holds Value?

Dominus hats hold Roblox's four most valuable Limiteds, and Sparkle Time Fedoras hold the tier below. Compare RAP, copies and asks for all 22.

Dominus hats and Sparkle Time Fedoras are the two most expensive families of classic Roblox Limiteds, and they divide the top of the market cleanly between them. A Limited is an item Roblox has stopped selling, so the only copies in existence are the ones already sitting in players' inventories. Each line contains exactly 11 classic Limiteds. Across the two lines, Dominus holds the four most valuable hats, led by Dominus Frigidus at a RAP of 28,059,680 R$ across 27 copies, meaning 27 of them were ever made. The Sparkle Time Fedoras hold most of the tier just underneath, led by the Midnight Blue Sparkle Time Fedora at 11,328,842 R$ across 100 copies. RAP, short for Recent Average Price, is Roblox's slow-moving average of what an item has actually sold for.

Quick answer: Dominus owns both ends of this comparison, with RAPs running from 140,615 R$ up to 28,059,680 R$. The Sparkle Time Fedoras sit in a tight band from 3,242,116 R$ to 11,328,842 R$, which makes them the steadier line and the pricier one to enter.

Which line is worth more? Dominus holds the top four spots

Ranking these 22 hats by RAP alone gives a misleading order, because RAP only moves when a copy sells, and the scarcest hats here go years between sales. The table below is ordered by trader consensus on street value, meaning what experienced traders currently treat each hat as being worth in a real trade. The RAP, copy and asking-price figures beside it come from the RBX Invest catalog.

22 Dominus Formidulosus Dominus 140,615 R$ 3,927 159,999 R$

Read that table in three blocks. Dominus takes places 1 through 4 with its scarcest hats. The fedoras take eight of the next nine places, with only Dominus Pittacium and its 38 copies breaking the run. The last nine places mix the two lines, holding the six Domini that Roblox sold in the hundreds or thousands and the three fedoras with the biggest supply.

The lowest ask column deserves a warning. An ask is the cheapest price a current owner has publicly listed a copy at, and at this level most of those numbers are decoration. Three Domini share a 618,033,988 R$ ask, and the Purple fedora carries one at 6,767,676,767 R$. Nobody expects those to fill. Owners of gem-tier hats, meaning the scarce high-value Limiteds at the top of the market, park a silly number on a copy so it shows as listed while staying effectively unavailable. We cover that habit in more detail in Roblox Limiteds listed for billions. Real deals at this level happen in trades.

Why does trader consensus rank these hats differently from RAP?

RAP updates with a formula that drags its feet on purpose. Each sale moves it by one tenth of the gap between the old RAP and the new sale price. On an item that sells a few times a week, RAP lands close to the market. On a 23-copy hat that sells once a year, RAP can sit frozen at a number from an era that has ended.

Dominus Infernus shows the gap at its widest

Dominus Infernus

Dominus Infernus carries a RAP of 1,973,087 R$ across 27 copies. That RAP would place it 19th in the table above, below the original Sparkle Time Fedora, which has 765 copies. Traders put it third. Twenty-seven copies of an original-mesh Dominus is one of the thinnest supplies in the game, and that scarcity is what the consensus price reflects. The RAP is simply stale, held down by old sales that nobody can repeat at that price today.

The same thing lifts Dominus Empyreus above Frigidus in consensus terms despite Frigidus carrying roughly double the RAP. Empyreus has 23 copies, the smallest supply in either family, and it was the first Dominus ever made.

Two fedoras whose RAPs point the wrong way

The Red Sparkle Time Fedora has the lowest RAP of the nine colored fedoras at 4,871,499 R$, and traders rank it the most valuable of them. The Orange Sparkle Time Fedora is the reverse: a RAP of 10,295,947 R$ puts it third among fedoras, while consensus places it last of the colored ones.

A gap in that direction usually means projection. A projected item is one whose RAP has been pushed away from reality by sales between cooperating accounts, often to make a hat look more valuable than the market treats it. Our guide to projected items walks through how to spot the pattern in a price chart. When a RAP sits well above what traders will actually give, treat the RAP as the suspect number.

Which line is scarcer? Dominus, once you set aside its bulk releases

Across all 11 members, the Dominus line has 6,794 copies and the fedora line has 1,971. That comparison flatters the fedoras, and it falls apart as soon as you look at where the Dominus copies are concentrated. Two Domini account for 5,233 of them: Praefectus at 1,306 and Formidulosus at 3,927. Strip those two out and the remaining nine Domini share 1,561 copies, fewer than the 11 fedoras hold between them.

Supply inside each line also behaves differently. Every colored fedora launched with a stock of 100, and the catalog still shows 98 to 101 copies each. The Dominus copy counts run from 23 to 3,927. One line was manufactured to a single recipe. The other was improvised over a decade.

Copy counts only ever fall, by the way. Terminated accounts and abandoned inventories take copies out of circulation permanently, so the real buyable supply of a 23-copy hat is smaller than 23. You can see which items have copies actually listed on the items leaderboard.

Where did each line come from?

The Sparkle Time Fedoras started as a 2007 gift

The original Sparkle Time Fedora arrived on December 23, 2007 during Roblox's first Giftsplosion event, coming out of a gift box that players earned through profile visits and that later sold for 250 Robux. It went limited on October 5, 2009 with 765 copies, and our catalog still lists 765. Roblox then spent a decade re-texturing it. The colored run began with the Purple in 2011, each release carried a stock of 100, and the launch price climbed from 10,000 Robux to 50,000, then 60,000, then 100,000. The Red fedora, now the consensus leader of the colors, launched in February 2012 for 10,000 Robux.

The White fedora never sold out

White Sparkle Time Fedora

The White Sparkle Time Fedora closed the series on September 3, 2017 at the Labor Day sale. Roblox put 5,000 copies up at 100,000 Robux on a two-hour timer, and 306 sold before the clock ran out. That failed sell-out is why the White sits so low in both orderings: it has three times the supply of any colored fedora and it launched at the series' top price of 100,000 Robux. Planned scarcity is what this market pays for, and the White's supply was an accident of a timer running out.

Dominus started at 13,337 Robux

The Dominus line opened in January 2010 with Dominus Empyreus at 13,337 Robux. Roblox added Domini at a pace of one or two a year after that, then went quiet, and Dominus Formidulosus arrived for Halloween 2019 at 13,000 Robux on a timer of just over a day, the first Dominus to go limited since 2017. Later Domini exist, though they stayed off the resale market, which is why the line's Limited roster has held at 11 since 2019. The full story lives in our Dominus series history, and the fedora line has its own writeup in the Sparkle Time series history.

Dominus Frigidus came from a Make-A-Wish request

Dominus Frigidus

Dominus Frigidus went on sale March 24, 2011 for 39,000 Robux with a stock of 26, and community records credit its design to a player whose wish was granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our catalog shows 27 copies today. It carries the highest RAP of any item in the RBX Invest catalog, and its origin story is a large part of why owners keep hold of it.

What does it cost to get into each line?

Dominus Formidulosus

This is where the two families stop being comparable. The cheapest Dominus is Dominus Formidulosus at a RAP of 140,615 R$ with a listed ask of 159,999 R$. The cheapest Sparkle Time Fedora is the original at a RAP of 3,242,116 R$ with an ask of 3,676,766 R$. Entering the Dominus line costs about a twentieth of what entering the fedora line costs, because Roblox mass-produced two Domini and never mass-produced a fedora.

For a mid-size account, that difference decides the question. A 160,000 R$ hood puts a Dominus on your avatar. The fedora line has no equivalent door. If what you want is the look for the lowest price, the fedora collection has far cheaper classics that borrow the shape, and the most expensive Limiteds page shows what the real top of the market is asking today.

Which one should you hold?

For a trader holding a single large position, the fedoras are the easier asset. Eleven hats, nine of them with near-identical supply, all priced within a 3.5x band, and enough sales flowing through the colored ones that RAP stays roughly honest. Pricing one is straightforward, and finding a buyer at a fair number is realistic.

The Dominus line pays for patience instead. Its top four are scarcer than anything in the fedora line, and three of them have RAPs that no longer describe their market, which cuts in your favor when you own one and against you when you try to buy one. You can hold a Dominus for two years and see zero public sales to price it against.

One practical note for either family: selling a classic Limited through the Marketplace means a 30% fee, so a 10,000,000 R$ sale returns 7,000,000 R$ to you. Trades carry no such fee, which is a large reason gem-tier hats at this level move through trades. Trading either family needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on both accounts. Classic Limiteds also carry a holding period, the wait before you can move an item again: 2 days after a trade and 7 days after a resale purchase, so neither family suits quick flipping. If you want the same question answered for a different pairing, we compared two other famous lines in Dominus vs Valkyrie.

None of this is financial advice. Limited prices can fall as fast as they rise, and items this expensive can sit unsold for months.

Market figures come from the RBX Invest catalog as of October 4, 2026 and were cross-checked against Roblox's own resale data, fee and holding-period rules come from Roblox's Marketplace documentation, and release dates and launch prices come from Roblox catalog records and the community-maintained Roblox Wiki.

FAQ

Is a Dominus worth more than a Sparkle Time Fedora?

The four scarcest Domini are worth more than any Sparkle Time Fedora, while the six Domini that Roblox sold in large quantities all sit below the colored fedoras. Dominus Frigidus leads on RAP at 28,059,680 R$ across 27 copies, while the Midnight Blue Sparkle Time Fedora leads the fedoras at 11,328,842 R$ across 100 copies. The cheapest Dominus, Formidulosus, has a RAP of 140,615 R$.

How many Dominus hats and Sparkle Time Fedoras are Limiteds?

Eleven each. The Dominus Limiteds are Empyreus, Infernus, Frigidus, Messor, Rex, Vespertilio, Aureus, Astra, Pittacium, Praefectus and Formidulosus. The fedora line is the original plus ten re-textures: Purple, Red, Green, Midnight Blue, Teal, Orange, Black, Pink, Sky Blue and White. Other Dominus hats exist that Roblox never released as Limiteds.

What is the cheapest way to own a Dominus?

Dominus Formidulosus, the Halloween 2019 release, is the cheapest at a RAP of 140,615 R$ with a listed ask of 159,999 R$ in October 2026. It has 3,927 copies, the largest supply in the line, which is exactly why it is affordable. Dominus Praefectus is next at a RAP of 860,951 R$.

Why is Dominus Infernus ranked above its RAP?

Because its RAP of 1,973,087 R$ is stale. Infernus has only 27 copies and sells very rarely, and RAP moves by just one tenth of the gap on each sale, so an old low sale can hold the number down for years. Traders treat Infernus as a top-four item in these two families despite what its RAP says.

Why are some of these hats listed for hundreds of millions of Robux?

Owners of the scarcest copies list them at prices nobody will pay so the copy appears on the market without actually being for sale. Three Domini currently share an ask of 618,033,988 R$ and the Purple Sparkle Time Fedora sits at 6,767,676,767 R$. Treat those as placeholders and judge the market by RAP and recent trades.

Can you trade a Dominus or a Sparkle Time Fedora?

Yes. Both lines are classic Limiteds, which Roblox created and which players can trade directly with each other. Trading requires an active Roblox Plus subscription on both accounts, and a classic Limited cannot be traded again for 2 days after it arrives in your inventory, or resold for 7 days after you buy it on the Marketplace.

How much Robux do you keep when you sell one of these hats?

You keep 70% of the sale price. Reselling a classic Limited on the Marketplace carries a 30% fee, so a 10,000,000 R$ sale returns 7,000,000 R$. Trading one for other items carries no such fee, which is why most deals at this price level happen as trades.

Which Sparkle Time Fedora is the most valuable?

The Midnight Blue leads on RAP at 11,328,842 R$, followed by the Purple at 10,888,103 R$ and the Orange at 10,295,947 R$. Trader consensus puts the Red first instead, even though its RAP of 4,871,499 R$ is the lowest of the nine colored fedoras, which is a sign that some of the higher RAPs in the line are inflated.
