Roblox Tiered Limited Drops: Which Tier Pays Off?

Roblox tiered Limited drops sell one crown at 45 to 1,000 Robux with inverse supply. The cheap tier won on multiple, the top tier on absolute value.

Roblox has run the same drop four times: one crown design released as a set of recolors on the same day, each color at a different price with a different number of copies. The cheap color sells tens of thousands of copies for 45 Robux, the expensive one a few hundred for 1,000 Robux. Ten years on, the cheap tier has produced the biggest multiple on launch price and the expensive tier the biggest absolute value. The Silver King of the Night cost 45 R$ in June 2016 and carries a 414,627 R$ RAP today, which is roughly 9,200 times its launch price.

Quick answer: Across Roblox's four tiered crown drops, the cheapest tier returned the largest multiple and the most expensive tier reached the highest price. The 2016 sets did both spectacularly, and the 2018 Emperor of the Sky set, built the same way, has returned closer to 12x to 25x.

Set Released Tiers Cheapest tier multiple Top tier multiple
King of the Night 23 Jun 2016 45 / 100 / 500 / 1,000 R$ 9,214x 2,223x
Queen of the Night 23 Nov 2016 45 / 100 / 500 / 1,000 R$ 1,887x 565x
Emperor of the Night 23 Jun 2017 250 / 500 R$ 602x 198x
Emperor of the Sky 21 Jun 2018 45 / 100 / 250 / 500 R$ 20x 12x

Multiples are RAP divided by launch price, using RBX Invest catalog data on 27 October 2026. RAP stands for recent average price, Roblox's smoothed running average of an item's sale history: each new sale moves it by one tenth of the gap between the old RAP and the new sale price.

What is a tiered Limited drop on Roblox? One design, several colors, different supply each

A Limited is an item Roblox stopped selling after a fixed number of copies went out, which is what lets players resell those copies to each other afterwards. A tiered drop takes one design, publishes it in several colors on the same day, and gives each color its own price and its own copy count. Price goes up as copies go down.

The June 2016 King of the Night set is the clearest example. Four colors, all created on 23 June 2016, all crowns:

  • Silver at 45 R$, 10,028 copies
  • Adurite at 100 R$, 2,005 copies
  • Gold at 500 R$, 1,004 copies
  • Black Iron at 1,000 R$, 201 copies

Each step up the ladder costs two to five times more and cuts supply by half to four-fifths. Roblox repeated the shape in November 2016 with the Queen of the Night, trimmed it to two tiers for the June 2017 Emperor of the Night, and ran it again in June 2018 for the Emperor of the Sky. The item histories of the Night crowns are covered in full in our Crowns of the Night series history; this piece is about which rung of the ladder was the better buy.

Which tier of a Roblox crown drop is worth the most now? The top tier, by a wide margin

Here are all fourteen tiered crowns, ordered by consensus street value, which is what experienced traders actually pay.

Item Set Launch price Copies RAP Lowest ask
Black Iron King of the Night King 2016 1,000 R$ 201 2,222,951 R$ 13,000,000 R$
Pink Queen of the Night Queen 2016 1,000 R$ 879 564,529 R$ 570,000 R$
Silver King of the Night King 2016 45 R$ 10,028 414,627 R$ 445,000 R$
Gold King of the Night King 2016 500 R$ 1,004 382,438 R$ 405,161 R$
Adurite King of the Night King 2016 100 R$ 2,005 302,601 R$ 280,000 R$
Purple Queen of the Night Queen 2016 500 R$ 1,318 277,710 R$ 230,000 R$
Silver Emperor of the Night Emperor 2017 250 R$ 4,229 150,616 R$ 221,999 R$
Blue Queen of the Night Queen 2016 100 R$ 4,486 137,009 R$ 149,998 R$
Gold Emperor of the Night Emperor 2017 500 R$ 3,262 98,805 R$ 115,000 R$
Green Queen of the Night Queen 2016 45 R$ 10,972 84,928 R$ 86,398 R$
Onyx Emperor Of The Sky Crown Sky 2018 500 R$ 1,000 5,896 R$ 5,500 R$
Amethyst Emperor Of The Sky Sky 2018 250 R$ 1,500 3,238 R$ 3,700 R$
Amber Emperor Of The Sky Sky 2018 100 R$ 2,001 2,453 R$ 2,499 R$
Aqua Emperor Of The Sky Sky 2018 45 R$ 10,006 881 R$ 824 R$

Two things jump out of that ordering. The 201-copy Black Iron King sits about four times above the next crown on the list, which is what 201 copies does to a famous design. And the 45 R$ Silver King ranks third, above the 500 R$ Gold King and the 100 R$ Adurite King from its own set. Paying ten times more at launch did not buy a higher price ten years later.

Which tier gave the best return? The cheapest one, in both 2016 sets

Silver King of the Night

Multiply out the King of the Night set and the gap is enormous.

  • Silver, 45 R$ to 414,627 R$: 9,214x
  • Adurite, 100 R$ to 302,601 R$: 3,026x
  • Black Iron, 1,000 R$ to 2,222,951 R$: 2,223x
  • Gold, 500 R$ to 382,438 R$: 765x

Per copy spent, the cheap tier wins by a mile. For a fixed budget the comparison is tighter, because Roblox's marketplace documentation caps a buyer at three successful purchases per user per item. Three Silver Kings cost 135 R$ and carry about 1.24 million Robux of RAP between them today. One Black Iron King cost 1,000 R$ and carries 2.22 million. The top tier wins on a single purchase, and the cheap tier wins on every Robux spent. Against the 500 R$ Gold tier, the cheap Silver crown wins on both counts.

The Queen of the Night set repeats the pattern more plainly. Green at 45 R$ returned 1,887x and Blue at 100 R$ returned 1,370x, while Purple at 500 R$ returned 555x and Pink at 1,000 R$ returned 565x. Per Robux spent, Green returned about 3.3 times what Pink did. On a single copy, one Pink Queen is worth about 6.6 times one Green Queen.

Why does the cheap tier do this? Copies get destroyed. A 45 R$ crown is bought by huge numbers of casual players, and over a decade a large share of those accounts go inactive, get moderated, or sell the item for whatever the market offers at the time. The copy count Roblox minted stays on the page, but the number of copies anyone is willing to list keeps shrinking. Our guide on what makes a Roblox Limited rare covers that drain in detail.

The cheap tier also carries the design to far more avatars, which keeps the name familiar to the next generation of buyers. 10,028 Silver Kings seeded a decade of demand that 201 Black Iron Kings never could.

Why is the top tier still the most expensive crown? 201 copies

Black Iron King of the Night

The Black Iron King of the Night is the only item in this group under 500 copies, and it is the only one with a seven-figure RAP. Its catalog description is four words: "Blackest night, nothing light."

Scarcity at that level changes how the item trades. The cheapest copy currently asks 13,000,000 R$ against a 2,222,951 R$ RAP, a gap of nearly six times. On an item with 201 copies and few sales, the lowest ask is one owner's opinion and RAP is the record of what actually cleared. Both numbers are real, and the distance between them tells you the market is thin. You can see where it sits among Roblox's priciest items on the most expensive Limiteds collection.

For a buyer today, that thinness is the risk. There is no reliable way to exit a 2 million Robux crown quickly.

What happened to the 2018 Emperor of the Sky set? The same structure, a fraction of the return

Aqua Emperor Of The Sky

Roblox published the Emperor of the Sky on 21 June 2018 with the same ladder: Aqua at 45 R$ with 10,006 copies, Amber at 100 R$ with 2,001, Amethyst at 250 R$ with 1,500, and Onyx at 500 R$ with 1,000. The two cheapest counts almost exactly mirror the 2016 King set, while the top two tiers were far more plentiful at 1,500 and 1,000 copies.

The returns went nowhere near 2016's. Aqua sits at an 881 R$ RAP for 19.6x, Amber at 2,453 R$ for 24.5x, Amethyst at 3,238 R$ for 13x and Onyx at 5,896 R$ for 11.8x. The best tier in this set returned 24.5x. The weakest tier in the 2016 King set returned 765x.

Two of the four currently ask below their own RAP. Aqua's cheapest copy wants 824 R$ against an 881 R$ RAP, and Onyx wants 5,500 R$ against 5,896 R$. A buyer today pays less than the smoothed average, which is the signature of soft demand and plenty of available supply.

The lesson for anyone sizing up a new tiered drop is that the ladder structure guarantees nothing. Both sets used the same pricing design, so what separated them was the crown itself catching on and the years of avatar-wearing that followed. Our piece on Roblox Limiteds worth less than their launch price shows how often recent releases disappoint.

Has Roblox run a tiered crown drop recently?

Not as a Limited set. The newest entry in the line is an Opal King of the Night, created on 22 September 2026 with a listed price of 50,000 Robux. As of 27 October 2026 it is not on sale and Roblox records no copies for it, so there is no resale market and nothing to value yet.

That 50,000 R$ figure is worth noting against the original ladder. The 2016 top tier cost 1,000 R$. If Roblox ever puts the Opal version on sale at its listed price, the entry ticket is fifty times the old top tier, which changes the arithmetic on any future multiple. Watch the crowns collection and the Deals feed, which needs a signed-in account, if you want to catch a drop like that early.

How should you approach the next tiered drop?

Four practical rules come out of this data.

Buy the cheap tier for multiples and the top tier for a trophy. Those are different goals, and the 2016 numbers show the ladder serves both ends and squeezes the middle. The 500 R$ Gold King returned less than every other tier in its own set.

Weigh copies above price. The best performer by value across all fourteen crowns is the 201-copy Black Iron King, and the best by multiple is the 10,028-copy Silver King. They sit at opposite ends of the price ladder and share a design people kept wearing.

Expect most sets to behave like 2018. Four drops is a small sample, and the large returns all come from the 2016 and 2017 releases. Treat the 2016 numbers as the ceiling.

Build in the cost of selling. Roblox's marketplace documentation lists the split on a Limited sale as 30% to the creator, 40% to the seller or affiliate and 30% to Roblox, and on every crown here the creator is Roblox itself. The same page states that after purchasing a Limited there is a holding period of up to 30 days during which the item cannot be resold; for classic Roblox-made Limiteds the holds in practice are shorter, at 7 days after a resale purchase and 2 days after a trade. Reselling needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on the seller's account, and trading needs one on both sides. You can track live asks and your own positions on the reseller terminal.

None of this is financial advice. Thin markets reprice fast, and a ten-year track record is a description of the past.

Figures come from RBX Invest catalog data and Roblox's own economy endpoints as of 27 October 2026, item details and release dates from each item's Roblox catalog page, and fee and holding-period rules from Roblox's marketplace fees and commissions documentation.

FAQ

What is a tiered Limited drop on Roblox?

A tiered drop is one item design published in several colors on the same day, with each color given its own price and its own copy count. Price rises as copies fall. Roblox used this format for the King of the Night (June 2016), Queen of the Night (November 2016), Emperor of the Night (June 2017) and Emperor of the Sky (June 2018).

Which tier of the King of the Night set was the best buy?

The 45 R$ Silver King of the Night returned the biggest multiple at roughly 9,214x, taking its 414,627 R$ RAP against its launch price. The 1,000 R$ Black Iron King reached the highest absolute value with a 2,222,951 R$ RAP. Three Silver Kings, the most copies of one item Roblox's documentation lets an account buy, cost 135 R$ and hold about 1.24 million Robux of RAP between them today.

Why is the Black Iron King of the Night so expensive?

It has 201 copies, the lowest count of any crown in these four sets, and it was the top tier of Roblox's most successful tiered drop. Its RAP is 2,222,951 R$ as of 27 October 2026 and its cheapest listing asks 13,000,000 R$. With that few copies and few sales, the gap between RAP and the lowest ask stays wide.

Did the Emperor of the Sky set hold its value?

Barely. The 2018 set returned between 11.8x and 24.5x on launch price, against hundreds or thousands of times for the 2016 crowns. Two of the four Sky crowns currently have a cheapest listing below their own RAP, with Aqua asking 824 R$ against an 881 R$ RAP and Onyx asking 5,500 R$ against 5,896 R$.

Does a higher launch price mean a Limited will be worth more?

No. Within the King of the Night set the 500 R$ Gold tier returned 765x while the 45 R$ Silver tier returned about 9,214x, and the Silver crown is worth more today in absolute terms as well. Copy count and how widely a design was worn matter more than what Roblox charged on day one.

How many copies did each King of the Night tier sell?

Silver sold 10,028 copies at 45 R$, Adurite 2,005 at 100 R$, Gold 1,004 at 500 R$ and Black Iron 201 at 1,000 R$, all created on 23 June 2016. Those counts are the minted totals; the number of copies actually listed for sale at any moment is far smaller.

Is there a new King of the Night coming?

Roblox created an Opal King of the Night on 22 September 2026 with a listed price of 50,000 Robux. It is not on sale as of 27 October 2026 and no copies are recorded for it, so there is no market to read. Roblox has made no announcement about it that we can point to.

Where can I compare these crowns against other Roblox Limiteds?

The items leaderboard ranks every tracked Limited by value, and the crowns collection gathers the crown and tiara items specifically. For the full story of the Night crowns, see the Crowns of the Night series history, and for price bands across the whole market see how much Roblox Limiteds cost.
