Older Roblox Limiteds are worth more, and the gap is large. Of the 2,948 classic Limiteds in the RBX Invest catalog as of September 2026, the ones Roblox published between 2007 and 2016 carry a median RAP of 10,494 Robux (R$). The ones published from 2017 onward sit at 2,006 R$. A classic Limited is an item Roblox made itself with a fixed number of copies that players resell and trade, and RAP (recent average price) is a smoothed average of an item's whole sale history. The highest RAP in the catalog belongs to Dominus Frigidus, published in 2011 with 27 copies. Age is a shortcut for the thing that actually sets the price: how many copies exist.
Quick answer: Yes. Classic Limiteds published from 2007 to 2016 have a median RAP of 10,494 R$, about five times the 2,006 R$ median for those published from 2017 on. Supply explains most of it. The median older Limited has 1,001 copies, the median newer one has 6,185.
| Published 2007-2016 | Published 2017-2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Classic Limiteds tracked | 2,383 | 565 |
| Median RAP | 10,494 R$ | 2,006 R$ |
| Median copies | 1,001 | 6,185 |
| Items with RAP above 100,000 R$ | 314 | 49 |
| Items with RAP above 1,000,000 R$ | 68 | 7 |
Are older Roblox Limiteds worth more? Yes, roughly five times at the median
Median means the middle item. Line up every classic Limited from a period by RAP and the median is the one standing in the middle. Averages fall apart on this catalog, because a few dozen items priced in the millions of Robux drag any average far above what a normal item costs.
Of the 2,948 classic Limiteds we track, 2,544 carry a live RAP. The rest have no sale history recent enough to average, which usually means nobody has bought or sold one in a long time.
One definition matters before the numbers. Release year here is the year the item was first published in Roblox's catalog, which is how our catalog dates every item. A lot of old hats sold openly at a fixed price for years before Roblox capped their supply and made them Limited. The Classic ROBLOX Viking Helm went up in May 2007 and had its supply capped in August 2010, a pattern covered in our piece on the oldest Roblox Limiteds.
What do Roblox Limiteds sell for by release year?
Here is every year since 2007, with how many classic Limiteds carry that year in the catalog, the median RAP, and the median number of copies.
| Year published | Classic Limiteds | Median RAP | Median copies |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007 | 53 | 14,782 R$ | 2,531 |
| 2008 | 46 | 6,090 R$ | 4,843 |
| 2009 | 217 | 8,012 R$ | 1,428 |
| 2010 | 437 | 15,130 R$ | 918 |
| 2011 | 397 | 11,017 R$ | 954 |
| 2012 | 268 | 9,799 R$ | 964 |
| 2013 | 261 | 5,800 R$ | 1,500 |
| 2014 | 248 | 6,428 R$ | 1,501 |
| 2015 | 239 | 13,874 R$ | 1,011 |
| 2016 | 217 | 10,549 R$ | 1,500 |
| 2017 | 95 | 2,616 R$ | 9,898 |
| 2018 | 134 | 4,623 R$ | 2,403 |
| 2019 | 79 | 2,813 R$ | 5,424 |
| 2020 | 18 | 286 R$ | 2,523,433 |
| 2021 | 44 | 462 R$ | 28,004 |
| 2022 | 88 | 1,189 R$ | 3,831 |
| 2023 | 13 | 1,022 R$ | 100,000 |
| 2024 | 44 | 5,320 R$ | 5,356 |
| 2025 | 34 | 952 R$ | 7,066 |
| 2026 | 16 | 4,448 R$ | 107,689 |
Medians use the items from that year with live market data, so a year with few tracked sales rests on a thin sample. The 2026 row is one item so far.
Two things jump out. Roblox's busiest years were 2010 with 437 Limiteds and 2011 with 397, together more than a quarter of the whole classic catalog. And the median price falls off a cliff after 2016, bottoming out in 2020 at 286 R$.
Why do old Roblox Limiteds cost more? The print runs were tiny
A print run is the number of copies Roblox minted, and it never grows. The Domino Crown has 25 copies and always will. Dominus Frigidus has 27. When a few thousand players want one of those and only 25 exist, the price climbs until all but 25 of them give up.
The older years were full of runs like that. Between 2007 and 2016 the median classic Limited was printed 1,001 times. Then supply widened. From 2017 on the median run is 6,185 copies, and some years are far worse than that.
Here is one item from each stretch of catalog history, with its supply and its live RAP.
| Item | Published | Copies | RAP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007 | 25 | 5,726,071 R$ | |
| 2009 | 92 | 4,588,638 R$ | |
| 2010 | 23 | 13,577,229 R$ | |
| 2011 | 27 | 28,059,680 R$ | |
| 2014 | 26 | 14,321,557 R$ | |
| 2017 | 306 | 3,958,209 R$ | |
| 2019 | 51 | 4,336,949 R$ | |
| 2020 | 3,729,660 | 360 R$ | |
| 2024 | 958 | 164,240 R$ |
Look at the 2019 row. The Emerald Valkyrie was printed 51 times, twelve years after the Domino Crown, and it trades in the millions anyway. A small run from a recent year beats a big run from an old one. You can sort the whole catalog this way on the items leaderboard or browse the low-supply end through the rarest Limiteds collection.
What changed after 2017? Roblox started printing Limiteds in the millions
The median 2017 Limited has 9,898 copies, about ten times the 2010 median. By 2020 the median classic Limited has 2,523,433 copies, because all ten of the 2020 items with market data are Egg Hunt eggs that Roblox gave away in March of that year, each printed between 2 million and 4.5 million times. The Brainfreeze Egg from Egg Hunt 2020: Agents of E.G.G. was minted 3,729,660 times and holds a RAP of 360 R$.
Those items are still real Limiteds. They trade, they have fixed supply, and they cost about as much as a plain hat anyone can buy today. Millions of copies means anyone who wants one already has one, so there is no line of buyers pushing the price up.
This is also why the year on its own is a weak signal. Check the copy count before you assume a 2018 or 2019 item is cheap: 2019 produced both the Emerald Valkyrie at 51 copies and 11 items with supply above 100,000 copies.
Which years produced the gems?
A gem is a scarce, high-value Limited that traders treat as a store of Robux. Take the 30 classic Limiteds that traders currently rank highest by street value, which is what people actually pay for one, and 29 of them were published between 2007 and 2016. The single exception is the Emerald Valkyrie from 2019. Eleven of those 30 came from 2010 and 2015 alone.
RAP and street value disagree on the top of that list, and the disagreement is instructive. Dominus Frigidus holds the highest RAP at 28,059,680 R$, while trader consensus puts Dominus Empyreus, published in 2010 with 23 copies, in first place. Two more examples of the same effect:
- Lord of the Federation has 10 copies and a RAP of 1,277,922 R$, yet consensus street value ranks it near the very top of the catalog.
- Antenna Antlers has 15 copies and a RAP of 145,650 R$, and consensus puts it inside the top 30.
On an item with 10 or 15 copies, months can pass between sales. RAP updates only when a sale happens, so the number you see can be a snapshot of a market that moved on a long time ago. The thinner the supply, the more the price posted by the last seller lags the price owners would actually accept. Our guide to what RAP means on Roblox walks through the formula behind it. For the top of the market by RAP, see the most expensive Limiteds collection.
Are the newest classic Limiteds worth buying?
Recent years are mixed. Of the 44 classic Limiteds dated 2024, 21 have a recorded supply, and four of those were printed under 1,000 times: Vault Swordpack at 323 copies, Vault Glider Wings at 949, Daemonshank at 958, and The Jade Catseye at 999. Daemonshank leads the year on RAP at 164,240 R$. At the other end of 2024 sit the two Innovation Awards giveaways, printed more than a million times each and worth under 350 R$. The 2025 group of 34 items has a median RAP of 952 R$, and 16 items carry a 2026 date so far, only one of which has traded enough to show a RAP.
So the recent catalog holds both shapes: small runs that behave like the old gems, and mass giveaways that settle at a few hundred Robux. Our explainer on whether Roblox still makes classic Limiteds covers where the 2026 items came from.
How should you use release year when buying a Limited?
The copy count is the number to decide on. The year tells you what kind of item you are looking at. A practical order to check things in:
- Copies first. Of the 2,541 classic Limiteds with a recorded supply, 1,127 were printed under 1,000 times and only 195 have 100 copies or fewer. That second group is gem territory.
- Then the resale ladder. That is the list of copies players have up for sale, cheapest first. The lowest asking price tells you what you can buy one for today. RAP tells you what past sales averaged, and on a thin item those two can sit far apart.
- Then the year. A 2010 hat with 900 copies has had 16 years to find its owners, and most of them are not selling. A 2023 item with 100,000 copies has not.
- Then your exit. Reselling a classic Limited costs a 30% marketplace fee, so a 100,000 R$ sale pays you 70,000 R$. Our marketplace fees explainer has the full breakdown, including the different split on community-made Limiteds.
Old and scarce costs real Robux, and prices move. Nothing here is financial advice, and you should only put Robux into items you are happy to hold.

FAQ
Are older Roblox Limiteds worth more than newer ones?
Yes, on average. Classic Limiteds published from 2007 to 2016 have a median RAP of 10,494 Robux, against 2,006 R$ for those published from 2017 onward. The gap comes from supply, since the older median item has 1,001 copies and the newer one has 6,185.
Which year produced the most valuable Roblox Limiteds?
By trader street value, 2010 and 2015 lead, supplying 11 of the 30 most valuable classic Limiteds between them. By RAP, the top item is Dominus Frigidus from 2011 at 28,059,680 R$. Every one of the 30 most valuable items except the 2019 Emerald Valkyrie was published between 2007 and 2016.
Why are 2020 Roblox Limiteds so cheap?
Because Roblox printed millions of copies of them. The median classic Limited dated 2020 has 2,523,433 copies and a RAP of 286 R$. They were free prizes from Egg Hunt 2020, collected by millions of players, so almost nobody needs to buy one.
Does a Limited get more valuable as it ages?
Age alone does nothing. What rises over time is the share of copies locked in inventories of players who stopped trading, which shrinks the supply available to buy. An item with 3 million copies has plenty left no matter how old it gets.
What does release year mean on RBX Invest?
It is the year the item was first published in Roblox's catalog. Some items sold normally for years before Roblox capped their supply and made them Limited, so a 2007 date tells you the hat existed in 2007, and it may have become collectible years later.
How many classic Limiteds has Roblox published?
RBX Invest tracks 2,948 classic Limiteds, 2,544 of which carry a live RAP. Of those, 75 have a RAP above 1,000,000 Robux and 68 of the 75 were published before 2017.
Is it worth buying a brand new classic Limited?
It depends on the print run. Four of the 2024 classic Limiteds were printed under 1,000 times, and the priciest of them, Daemonshank, sits at a RAP of 164,240 R$ on 958 copies. A 2024 item with a million copies, such as either Innovation Awards giveaway, trades under 350 R$.
Why is RAP sometimes higher than what an old Limited sells for?
RAP averages sale prices over an item's history and only moves when a sale happens. On an item with 10 or 20 copies, sales can be months apart, so the posted RAP may reflect a market that has already moved. Check the lowest asking price beside RAP before you decide what something is worth.
