What a Limited Item is, from zero.

What Roblox Limited Items are, why some of them sell for thousands of Robux, and what you would need to start. Nothing about Roblox is assumed.

What are Robux and avatar items?

Roblox is a platform full of games, and every player has an avatar, the character they play as. The hats, hair, faces and wings that avatar wears are sold on the Roblox Marketplace and paid for in Robux (R$), the money inside Roblox. You buy Robux with real money or earn them on the platform.

Most avatar items are sold in unlimited numbers. Anyone can buy one at any time, so a used copy is worth nothing extra. Limited Items are the exception.

What is a Limited Item?

A Limited Item is an avatar item with a fixed number of copies. A creator might release a hat with 500 copies at 100 R$ each. When the 500th copy sells, the creator has none left, and the only way to get the hat is to buy it from a player who owns one. Owners list their copies for resale at whatever price they choose.

That resale market is what RBX Invest tracks. Every Limited Item has a page here showing what it sells for, how many copies exist and who made it.

What are the two kinds of Limited Item?

You will see both names all over the site.

UGC Limited Item: Made by a community creator. UGC stands for user-generated content. New ones come out every day, many of them cheap or free, which makes them the usual place to start. They can be resold for Robux.

Classic Limited Item: Made by Roblox itself, most of them years ago. They include the most expensive items on Roblox, and they can be resold or traded item for item with other players.

Why do some Limited Items climb in price?

The number of copies is fixed, and the number of people who want one keeps changing. When a popular item sells out, players who missed it can only buy from owners, and owners ask for more than they paid. The 100 R$ hat from the example might resell for 300 R$ a month later.

Plenty go the other way. If few players want an item, its copies sit unsold or resell for less than the launch price.

The number to watch is RAP, the Recent Average Price. It is a running average of what an item has actually sold for lately, and every item page on this site shows it.

Can you earn Robux from Limited Items?

Yes. You get a Limited Item cheaply or for free, wait for its price to rise, and sell it to another player for more. Roblox takes a share of every resale. On a UGC Limited Item the seller keeps 50%, so a copy bought for 100 R$ has to sell for 200 R$ before you have your Robux back.

Prices fall as well as rise, and a Limited Item is a virtual collectible whose value exists inside Roblox. Use Robux you can afford to leave tied up.

What do you need to start?

Four things, and the first is enough to begin collecting.

A Roblox account: Buying and collecting Limited Items needs nothing more.

Some Robux, or none: Paid Limited Items cost Robux. Many UGC Limited Items launch at 0 R$, so you can start by collecting free ones.

Roblox Plus, once you want to sell: Reselling needs Roblox Plus, the $4.99 a month Roblox subscription, on the seller’s account. Buying does not need it.

Patience: After you buy a Limited Item, Roblox holds it for up to 30 days before you can resell it.

How do you stay safe?

Buy and sell on the Roblox Marketplace and nowhere else. A real giveaway or sale never needs your password, so walk away from anyone who asks for it. RBX Invest signs you in on Roblox’s own login page, which means your password never reaches this site.
