Roblox Equinox Series: History and Hair Prices

The Roblox Equinox series is a two-tone spiky hair line from 2009 with four Limited recolors. Copies, RAP and live prices as of October 2026.

The Roblox Equinox series is a family of spiky two-tone hair that began with one 65-Robux catalog item in December 2009 and grew into a ten-piece hair line, four of which are Limiteds you can only buy from other players. The priciest is the Rainbow Equinox at a RAP near 25,900 R$ across 1,463 copies. The original Equinox still sells for 65 R$, and the three cheaper Limited recolors, Violet, Neon Green and Cyan, trade between 5,000 and 6,500 R$ because each one printed thousands of copies instead of hundreds. RAP is short for Recent Average Price, Roblox's smoothed average of an item's past sale prices, and a Limited is an item with a closed supply that changes hands only between players.

Quick answer: The Equinox series is Roblox's two-tone spiky hair line, with one always-on-sale original from 2009 and four Limited recolors. The Rainbow Equinox leads it at roughly 25,900 R$ RAP over 1,463 copies, and the other three Limiteds sit near 5,000 to 6,500 R$.

Limited Catalog date Copies RAP Lowest ask Type
Rainbow Equinox Jun 1, 2012 1,463 25,926 R$ 24,950 R$ Limited U
Violet Equinox Apr 14, 2014 4,986 6,317 R$ 9,498 R$ Limited
Neon Green Equinox Feb 6, 2015 5,006 5,427 R$ 6,500 R$ Limited U
Cyan Equinox Nov 15, 2013 3,505 5,028 R$ 5,300 R$ Limited U

Copies, RAP and lowest ask come from RBX Invest catalog data as of October 2026. Lowest ask means the cheapest copy a reseller has listed right now.

What is the Equinox on Roblox? A two-tone spiky hair from 2009

Equinox

The Equinox reached Roblox's catalog on December 17, 2009 and still sells for 65 R$ today. The shape is spiky hair split down the middle, white on one side and black on the other, and the item description still reads: "Light and Dark and Hairspray."

Roblox left the original on permanent sale, so it never became a Limited and never picked up a resale price. Popularity shows up elsewhere. Our catalog data counts 78,861 favorites on it, which puts it ahead of every Limited in the family by a wide margin. The look is cheap and common. The scarcity sits entirely in four recolors.

Three weeks after the Equinox, Roblox shipped Bed Hair at 80 R$, a brown version that the Roblox Wiki records as using the same mesh. It has 81,750 favorites, slightly more than the item it was built from. Both are still on sale, and together they explain why the series kept getting recolored: Roblox had a hair shape players liked and a cheap way to repaint it. Every later Equinox is a retexture, meaning the same 3D model wearing a new paint job.

Which Equinox is worth the most? The Rainbow Equinox, near 25,900 R$

Rainbow Equinox

The Rainbow Equinox was created on June 1, 2012 and sold at 100 R$ as a Limited U. The U stands for unique: a fixed print where every copy carries its own serial number, a stamped number showing the order in which copies were sold. Roblox's own item data lists 1,463 copies in existence, and that number cannot grow.

Its RAP is 25,926 R$ and the cheapest listed copy sits at 24,950 R$, a little under RAP. Among all Limited hair accessories on Roblox it ranks 25th by RAP, and it is one of only 39 Limited hairs anywhere on the platform above 10,000 R$.

The supply gap explains most of the price gap. Rainbow printed 1,463 copies. Cyan printed 3,505, Violet 4,986, Neon Green 5,006. Rainbow carries roughly a third of their supply and four to five times their price. That relationship is steeper than a straight line, which is normal for classic Limiteds: the small prints attract collectors who want the hardest version of a look to find, and those buyers compete over a tiny pool of listings.

Why do the other three Equinox Limiteds sit near 5,000 R$?

Supply does most of the work. All three printed thousands of copies, so there is almost always a listing available, and a crowded listing queue keeps prices honest. The differences between them are small but readable.

Cyan Equinox: 3,505 copies near 5,000 R$

Cyan Equinox

Cyan arrived on November 15, 2013 at 100 R$ as a Limited U with 3,505 copies, and its description pokes fun at its own existence: "That makes even less sense than Rainbow Equinox!?!" Its RAP is 5,028 R$ and the lowest ask is 5,300 R$, about 5% above RAP. That is the tightest ask-to-RAP spread in the family and a sign of a market where buyers and sellers mostly agree.

Violet Equinox: a free gift item that went Limited

Violet Equinox

Violet is the odd one. Roblox's item data gives it a price of 0 R$ and marks it a plain Limited with 4,986 copies. The Roblox Wiki records that it came out of a gift called the Violet Basket of Equal Cosmic Time on April 14, 2014, which matches the free price, though that gift's own price is community-documented and we cannot check it against Roblox today. A plain Limited is an item whose supply froze when Roblox stopped selling it. Our guide to Limited versus Limited U walks through the difference.

Violet also carries the widest gap in the family between what sellers want and what the market has paid. RAP is 6,317 R$ while the cheapest listing asks 9,498 R$, about 50% more. A gap that size usually means the cheap copies got bought and RAP has not caught up yet, or that holders are fishing for an optimistic buyer. Either way, treat the ask as the price you would actually pay and the RAP as the price the last handful of buyers paid. An item whose RAP has drifted far from what people really pay is called projected, and a wide ask-to-RAP gap is the first clue.

Neon Green Equinox: the largest print of the four

Neon Green Equinox

Neon Green entered the catalog on February 6, 2015 at 100 R$ as a Limited U with 5,006 copies, the largest print of the four. Its RAP is 5,427 R$ against a lowest ask of 6,500 R$. It is also the most favorited of the four Limiteds at 11,767, which is a reminder that attention and price pull in different directions when supply is large.

Are the Egg of Equinox hats part of the hair line? No, they are 2010 event eggs

Two more Limiteds carry the Equinox name, and both of those are eggs. Egg of Equinox: Day has 80,366 copies, a RAP of 205 R$ and a lowest ask of 230 R$. Egg of Equinox: Night has 24,011 copies, a RAP of 431 R$ and a lowest ask of 440 R$. Both were free event prizes from Roblox's 2010 Easter event and became Limiteds afterward, and the Roblox Wiki records that Day fell in games with a daytime sky while Night fell in games set at night.

They are the cheapest things in Roblox's catalog with Equinox on the label, and at a few hundred Robux they are a reasonable first Limited for a new collector. If old event items interest you, our Egg Hunt 2010 write-up covers that year's rarer prizes, and the eggs collection ranks every egg Limited by RAP.

Which Equinox items are not Limited?

These Equinox-family items never became Limiteds, which is why none of them carries a RAP. Five are still on sale individually at catalog prices.

Item Catalog date Price today
Equinox Dec 17, 2009 65 R$
Bed Hair Jan 8, 2010 80 R$
Pink & Purple Equinox May 21, 2016 Off sale
Neon Equinox Fedora Oct 31, 2016 200 R$
Split Equinox Nov 13, 2018 65 R$
Festive Equinox Nov 28, 2018 65 R$
Jester Equinox - Hat Mar 15, 2019 Bundle only

A few of these have stories worth knowing. The Neon Equinox Fedora wears the Equinox color split on a hat, and the Roblox Wiki records that it started life as a Roblox gift card redemption in November 2016 before going on general sale, which is the same path several gift card items took. Pink & Purple Equinox is the only non-Limited in the family Roblox has taken off sale: Roblox's catalog reports it unavailable, so its supply is closed even though it never became a tradable Limited. Jester Equinox is a hat from an Rthro bundle, which the Roblox Wiki credits to a community designer who won the 2018 Rthro Design Contest. There is also an Omega Rainbow Equinox from 2015 that sits outside our Limiteds database, part of the texture line covered in our Omega Rainbow series history.

What drives the Equinox premium?

Four things, and they stack.

Scarce prints inside a popular look. The cheap versions carry tens of thousands of favorites each, so plenty of players want Equinox hair on their avatar. Only four hair versions are Limiteds, and the smallest of those printed 1,463 copies.

Recolor economics. The shape costs 65 Robux all day, so color and scarcity are the only things a buyer is paying for. That makes supply the dominant price driver in this family, far more than in series where each member is a different model.

Classic hair is a small market. Only 39 Limited hair accessories on Roblox carry a RAP above 10,000 R$, and 27 of those were made by Roblox itself. Our Limited hair value guide breaks that set down, and the classic hair accessories collection ranks the Roblox-made ones live.

Competition from new hair. Creators publish UGC Limited hair constantly, and most of it trades for a few hundred Robux. You can see the whole field in the UGC Limited hair collection. New supply at low prices caps how far mid-tier classics can climb, which is part of why Cyan, Violet and Neon Green have settled into a narrow band.

Collector's outlook for the Equinox series

Rainbow Equinox is the one piece of this family with real scarcity, and right now it is also the only one listed under its RAP. That does not make it cheap, and at roughly 25,000 R$ it is a serious purchase for most players. The case for it is simple: 1,463 copies of a sixteen-year-old look that Roblox still sells in other colors.

The three five-figure-copy recolors behave like what they are, mid-tier classics with thick supply. They sit inside the band you can browse at Limiteds under 10,000 R$, and on a market this thin a single sale shifts RAP noticeably, so judge value from the listing queue alongside RAP. The Violet Equinox is the one to price carefully, since its cheapest listing currently asks about 50% over RAP.

All six Equinox Limiteds were made by Roblox, and Roblox's marketplace documentation confirms that Roblox-created Limiteds are the tradable ones, so you can swap these in player-to-player trades as well as buy them from resellers. Trading needs an active Roblox Plus subscription on both accounts, reselling needs one on the seller's account, and Roblox holds a copy you just bought for a while before you can list it again. Our holding periods guide covers those windows.

If you want to catch one of these below RAP, the Deals feed tracks Limiteds listed under their RAP and needs a signed-in account, and the items leaderboard lets you sort the whole classic market by RAP, copies and growth. None of this is financial advice, and Limiteds can and do lose value.

The Equinox series is a line of spiky two-tone hair accessories made by Roblox, starting with the original Equinox on December 17, 2009. The hair line runs to ten items, four of them Limiteds, and the family also lends its name to a hat and two 2010 event eggs.

Which Equinox is the most expensive?

The Rainbow Equinox is the most expensive, with a RAP of 25,926 R$ and a cheapest listing at 24,950 R$ as of October 2026. It has 1,463 copies, the smallest print in the family.

How many Equinox Limiteds are there?

Six Limiteds carry the Equinox name: four hair recolors (Rainbow, Violet, Neon Green and Cyan) and two eggs from Roblox's 2010 Easter event, Egg of Equinox: Day and Egg of Equinox: Night.

Can you still buy the original Equinox?

Yes. The original Equinox is still on sale in Roblox's catalog for 65 R$, and Bed Hair, which shares its mesh, sells for 80 R$. Neither has a closed supply, so neither has a resale market.

Is the Violet Equinox a Limited U?

No. Roblox's item data lists the Violet Equinox as a plain Limited with 4,986 copies, meaning its supply froze when Roblox stopped giving it out, while Rainbow, Cyan and Neon Green are Limited U prints with serial numbers.

Are the Egg of Equinox hats worth anything?

They are worth a few hundred Robux each. Egg of Equinox: Night has a RAP of 431 R$ across 24,011 copies, and Egg of Equinox: Day has a RAP of 205 R$ across 80,366 copies, which makes them the cheapest Equinox-named Limiteds.

Can you trade Equinox Limiteds?

Yes. Every Equinox Limited was created by Roblox, and Roblox's marketplace documentation states that Roblox-created Limiteds are the tradable ones. Both accounts in a trade need an active Roblox Plus subscription.

Why is the Rainbow Equinox worth so much more than the other recolors?

Supply. Rainbow printed 1,463 copies while Cyan, Violet and Neon Green printed between 3,505 and 5,006 each. With the same shape available for 65 R$ in the catalog, scarcity is what buyers are paying for, and roughly a third of the supply commands four to five times the price.
